Today we are tackling the often avoided topic of cultural appropriation in Kpop. Learn what it is, and how it manifests in Kpop and other pop culture. We have a discussion about hair and why it's never 'just hair. Plus, who makes these decisions and what can be done to keep them from happening, and more on how to navigate the very fine line between appropriation and appreciation. Finally, the newest mv ever in the random game, and... a body hair mystery??
**apologies for sound issues, we are figuring out home recording and appreciate your love and patience!

For the last few weeks we have been asking listeners to send in their thoughts on the current BLM protests and how Kpop is and is not responding. And today, we will hear directly from some of our Black listeners about how they are feeling these days. Plus chats from our discord around what responsibility idols and fandoms have when it comes to making change. All ending with possibly the worst screen time distribution in kpop mv history during the random game. Thank you again to all of the listeners who took time to share for this episode. Stay safe and wear a mask!!

Welcome to the first episode in an unfortunate series about all the ways idols let us down with problematic words and behaviors. Today we will be focusing on specific incidents of anti-blackness that have occurred in Kpop over the past few years. We're talking about everything from colorism in groups, to using slurs and the horrible implications of blackface. We must do more to protect Black fans and listen to their hurts, and we have to do more to encourage our idols to be better. Or else it's time to pack it up. And wouldn't we all rather just see change?
