From Dr Flava: Cooking has always come natural to me and everyone seems to really love my food! So much so, that when I started a catering company, the demand was more than my schedule would allow. Hence, DR Flava SPICES was born. I quickly realized that the real issue was not that people did not know how to prepare food themselves, they just did not know quite how to make it ‘flava-ful’! Thus, DR Flava SPICES is the answer- taking the thinking out of cooking.
Back in college, I was known to take canned food, boxed food, even cafeteria food, and whip up something amazing! How did I get this talent? I grew up watching my grandmother and mother cook, but always put my own twist on dishes, which created a different outcome than theirs. I soon realized food just requires the right flava and technique!
My goal is to help families come back to the dinner table over amazing, delicious food! So many people eat out and make bad choices because they are clueless how to make their food taste yummy. Also, often intimidated by recipes that require several ingredients for that one meal. I suffered from the cluttered cabinet, thousand spice syndrome, so I created a blend of spices so essentially I only have to use ONE seasoning along with other fresh veggies for FLAVA.
DR Flava SPICES will save time in the kitchen, reduce waste and cost of unnecessary seasonings in your cabinet. Food is an essential part of our lives. We should enjoy our food.

Shari Leid Embraces Each Connection Jan 21, 2021

Lawyer-turned-Life Coach Shari Leid spent a year meeting one-on-one with 50 of her girlfriends to reveal the positive impact they had made in her life.
The response? “During my journey, I discovered that the gift of one-on-one time with each girlfriend—sharing with her the strength and wisdom that she has brought to my life—often brought her to tears of gratitude, learning, and a deeper human connection than I could have ever imagined,” she says. “The meetings were even more powerful than I had first thought.”
Shari documented her experiences in her book, The 50/50 Friendship Flow: Life Lessons From and For My Girlfriends [Capucia Publishing, available now], and now she’s encouraging women of all ages to take on this #5050FriendshipFlowChallenge to strengthen and deepen their friendships in 2021.
In the last nine months, Shari has continued with her challenge during the pandemic, meeting one-on-one with another 50+ women via Zoom dates. “I decided that during this time when the pandemic is keeping me from in-person socializing, I would meet with 52 women via Zoom and learn from them. I wanted to learn from what messes became their messages. I learned things that I didn’t know about my friends and I felt a personal growth that I did not predict when I set out in this challenge.”

The reality is life puts us all through unplanned change. However, sometimes the unthinkable can occur. The COVID-19 pandemic is a sound example of this.
Who knew that at any given moment a package of toilet paper could suddenly become more valuable than your stock portfolio, or that in a heartbeat, face masks and social distancing would become the new global norm? We knew that another pandemic could happen; however, many of us never thought it would happen. To say the world has experienced, and will continue to experience, unprecedented change for decades would be the understatement of the year. In a nutshell: COVID-19 is unplanned change on steroids. Now, no matter who you are, or where you live, on some level everything seems upside down, not right-side up
Unfortunately, rapid unplanned change such as a pandemic also brings with it prolonged uncertainty. When this happens, it is normal to have difficulty seeing the upside of things. We are grieving the way things used to be (loss) and are fearful about what may, or may not, happen in the future (anxiety). Some anxiety is useful because it helps us initiate strategies like social distancing to reduce risk and keep ourselves safe. However, if we let them, sadness, fear, and anxiety can quickly become panic and cast a stranglehold on our ability to cope and move forward through uncertain times. The question then becomes how do we successfully navigate change when change can change its mind anytime?
When disaster strikes, maintaining a positive mindset with faith and hope becomes more important than ever before. Just like we put those cases of water and week’s worth of groceries in the pantry, having a positive mindset is emergency preparedness for our minds. Maintaining a positive perspective during prolonged uncertainty can make the difference between having a super-awesome life or a super-rotten one while massive upheaval plays out.
Mastering the art of positive thinking when you don’t know what the next five minutes might bring can be challenging. Positive thinking gives us an extreme advantage during times of extreme stress; yet most people do not use this strategy to their advantage. As humans we tend to focus our time and energy on what we don’t have, rather than on what we do have. Throw in some catastrophic change and we are naturally waiting for the other shoe to drop like everyone else.
During any type of change, the first step towards successfully moving away from negative thoughts towards more positive ones is acceptance. This does not mean you have to be happy about a situation like a pandemic and how it disrupted your life; it means that to move forward, not backward, one has to try and accept change is happening, not resist or deny it. Acceptance and looking at your circumstances from the outside in, rather than the inside out, helps take the emotionality (fear, sadness, anxiety) out of situations. Regardless of the magnitude of an event, this encourages our minds to shift to the more positive end of the spectrum.
