    Arts

    Artist Decoded by Yoshino

“I started this series as a means for exploration, an exploration of self, and an exploration of the perspectives of other artists.

This series is an unabridged documentation of conversations between artists. It’s a series dedicated to breaking down the barriers we tend to set up in our own minds. I want to inspire future creatives to have the courage to explore and experiment. This is about making dreams a reality and not about letting our dreams fall to the wayside.

My intention is to give my audience a sense of real human connection, something that feels rich and organic.

When I was thinking of a title I thought of the word “movement”.
In relation to the Renaissance period in art, my goal for this program is to signify a rebirth of consciousness towards the way we look at contemporary art.”

Death and Decay with Timothy Wilson feat. Justin Hopkins | AD 29 Apr 22, 2016
    Show notes

Timothy Wilson is a painter based in Maine. He works from direct painting on location and expounds upon his studies in larger studio paintings. Both a meditative ritual and obsessive dedication, his daily outings in stormy, serene, and inclement weather to coastal Atlantic locations help inform an experiential vocabulary and expressionist mark making. After years of portrait and figurative work, Timothy merged his holistic concepts of the ocean, landscape, and figure; aiming to find a more abstract and resonate image through the natural deconstruction of imagery.

Timothy keeps a permanent studio on the coast of Maine. He teaches (occasionally) at the Maine College of Art. He received his BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2008.

Constantly Challenging Her Aesthetic + An Explanation of "Voyeur with Vanessa Prager | AD 27 Mar 30, 2016
    Show notes

Vanessa Prager is an America artist, born and raised in Los Angeles, CA.

Known mainly for her large-scale, abstract oil paintings, Prager's main subject is the face. Perception, perspective and information flow are all central themes to her work, which became more widely recognized after her exhibition, Dreamers - a series of "imagined" portraits which cross the border between the figurative and the abstract - opened and sold out completely, in Spring 2015.

In January 2016, Prager's first solo exhibition in NYC, Voyeur, opened with favorable reviews. The Huffington Post described the works as "densely layered paintings, with pigment applied so thickly it forms its own topography", elaborating that, "various strokes of color - a ribbon of white like a squirt of toothpaste, a sharp silver of green like a fish darting by - come together to form different visual narratives."

Currently Vanessa Prager is represented by Richard Heller, Los Angeles and The Hole, NYC.
