    Another Mother Runner

    A family of two podcasts to get (+ keep) you running without losing your family, friends, job, or sanity! More than 1,000 (!) back episodes to enjoy.

    Every Friday on the original show (launched in 2011), host Sarah Bowen Shea, a mom of three and veteran of 14 marathons, is joined by a rotating cast of co-hosts and often a guest expert to discuss topics ranging from how to reach a big race goal to finding your athletic happy place, and everything in between. Training, nutrition, motivation, mental toughness, TMI issues: This ~hour-long show covers it all (and then some!).

    Every Tuesday, Miles of Books drops, alternating Ellison Weist chatting fiction one week with Sarah Bowen Shea and non-fiction with Coach Liz Waterstraat and Sarah the next. In about 30 minutes, the hosts entice and entertain you with plot descriptions and pearls of training (and life!) advice to guide you to your next great reads.

    Both shows are witty and conversational, making them great running partners because the AMR gals do all the talking—even on the uphills!

    Show notes

    Welcome to the second episode of AMR Trains, a new podcast under the Another Mother Runner pod umbrella and based on the Train Like a Mother Club.

    In this podcast that comes out every other Tuesday, we’re going to focus on topics related to training, and our guests will include Train Like a Mother Coaches, a variety of #motherrunners and other engaging experts.

    Since we are just rounding the halfway mark of January, we wanted to focus on setting—and achieving—seasonal goals.

    We’re bringing in the big guns to help us out with this: Jennifer Harrison and Elizabeth Waterstraat, two Chicago-area triathlon and running coaches who oversee the Heart + Sole and Triathlon programs in the Train Like a Mother Club.

    Listen in to find out:

    · The best guidelines for setting a goal;

    · Why goals don’t necessarily need to be PR- or time-related;

    · The single most important thing to helping you achieve your goals (it’s easier than you think!); and

    · What BHAG (big hairy audacious goal) Coach Liz is aiming for in 2020.

    Show notes

    Sarah and co-host Tish Hamilton are joined by two women associated with the new book Mighty Moe: The True Story of a Thirteen-Year-Old Women's Running Revolutionary—Rachel Swaby, one of the co-authors, and Maureen “Moe” Mancuso, the book’s subject, who set the women’s marathon world record at age 13 (!) in 1967. The quartet cover:

    -Mighty Moe’s 3:15 marathon run—and the resulting negative backlash;

    -marathon legend Kathrine Switzer giving Maureen her due—40 years after the fact;

    -why Maureen gave up running for decades; and,

    -the profound impact Maureen’s accomplishment had on women’s running.

    In the intro, Sarah and Tish talk about "intentionally enjoying" a calmer schedule, and Sarah talks up WMNRUN in hopes of Tish joining BAMRs to run it on March 1. Maureen and Rachel join the show at 15:51.

    AMR Trains #1: How to Stop Sugar Cravings Jan 07, 2020
    Show notes

    Welcome to AMR Trains, a new podcast under the Another Mother Runner pod umbrella and based on the Train Like a Mother Club.

    In this podcast that comes out every other Tuesday, we’re going to focus on topics related to training: everything from the best cross-training for runners to how to mentally stay in a race to how to optimally nourish your body. Our guests will include Train Like a Mother Coaches, a variety of #motherrunners talking about their athletic feats (because we love vicarious racing and training!) and other engaging experts.

    Simply Nourished Like a Mother, an 8-week foundational program, runs from January 13 to March 9.

    -the science of a runner’s high—and the potent benefits of it;

    -why moving in synchronicity with people is so potent;

    -why you should become an early bird exerciser, if you’re not already;

    Sarah and Amanda talk about their families’ holiday breaks, and the guest joins the show at 14:33.
