    Another Mother Runner

    A family of two podcasts to get (+ keep) you running without losing your family, friends, job, or sanity! More than 1,000 (!) back episodes to enjoy.

    Every Friday on the original show (launched in 2011), host Sarah Bowen Shea, a mom of three and veteran of 14 marathons, is joined by a rotating cast of co-hosts and often a guest expert to discuss topics ranging from how to reach a big race goal to finding your athletic happy place, and everything in between. Training, nutrition, motivation, mental toughness, TMI issues: This ~hour-long show covers it all (and then some!).

    Every Tuesday, Miles of Books drops, alternating Ellison Weist chatting fiction one week with Sarah Bowen Shea and non-fiction with Coach Liz Waterstraat and Sarah the next. In about 30 minutes, the hosts entice and entertain you with plot descriptions and pearls of training (and life!) advice to guide you to your next great reads.

    Both shows are witty and conversational, making them great running partners because the AMR gals do all the talking—even on the uphills!

    AMR Trains: Creating Healthy Habits Jan 04, 2022
    Show notes

    If you’re looking for some simple, easy ways to integrate habits into your life, we’ve got you. Two experts—psychologist Dr. Michelle Trotter-Mathison and dietician Ellie Kempton—chat with Dimity and Sarah Wassner Flynn about what makes a sustainable, healthy habit.

    Among other things, the discussion includes:

    • The disconnect between intention and action—and where most of us get tripped up;
    • Why size (think super tiny!) and simplicity (think super easy!) are key when forming a new routine and subsequent habit;
    • How a routine, rather than being constricting, can actually be freeing; and
    • The idea that willpower is actually a reflection of needs not being met. (So true when it comes to nutrition!)

    Ready to join Michelle in Creating Habits that Stick? Register here; the four-week program starts Monday, January 10.

    Ready to join Ellie in Simply Nourished Like a Mother? Register here; the eight-week program starts Monday, January 10.

    Show notes

    We may be biased, but we think ringing in the new year with an athletic tradition is pretty much the best idea ever. You will too, after you listen to this podcast.

    Dimity and co-host Sarah Wassner Flynn chat with three women who start the year off with athletic traditions:

    • First up is Jane Martin-Lavaud, who began her tradition of participating in the Coney Island Polar Plunge in 2015 to honor her daughter, and now plunges weekly;
    • Then we hear from Jodi Snowdon, who has run the in the Resolution Run 5K, a Canada-wide event, with her two daughters for nine straight years;
    • Then we connect with Jen Miller, who spent New Year's Eve in 2020 doing the Hainesport Hundred and 24 Hour Endurance Run—and had so much type-2 fun she went back this year for another 45 or so laps.

    Many Happy Miles offers fresh monthly workouts, strength circuits, challenges, as well as expert workshops, a 15% yearlong discount on merchandise and training programs at Another Mother Runner, live strength and yoga classes, among other features. Join us today!
