This week on Phinsider Radio, we kick things off talking about the mass exodus of talent from the Miami Dolphins. Since the last time we recorded the show a little more than a week ago, the Miami Dolphins have moved on from Jarvis Landry, Ndamukong Suh, Mike Pouncey, Lawrence Timmons and Julius Thomas. While Timmons and Thomas were foregone conclusions and while Landry was just about there, none of us thought it would come down to Suh and Pouncey being released (despite the rumors). However, life comes at you fast in the NFL. Why did the Dolphins move on from these players and are they crazy for doing so? We give you our best theory. We also talk about the newest additions to the Dolphins - Albert Wilson, Danny Amendola, Joshua Sitton and Daniel Kilgore. How will they fit in with this team and will they be able to make an impact? Does the new look WR corp scare anyone or should we just take a wait and see approach? We also discuss what else the Dolphins may need to do in free agency and the draft to get to where they need to be. Finally, we talk about the re-structured contracts for Reshad Jones and Ryan Tannehill. While Jones is seen as someone who will be around the team for years to come, Tannehill is a different story. With all the smoke about drafting a quarterback early this coming draft, how long is Miami really committed to Tannehill? Is it one or two years? We answer that question for you and debate how the Dolphins should handle this potentially fragile situation. This week on Phinsider Radio, Sutton, Houtz and myself talk about Jarvis Landry and whether the Miami Dolphins should bring him back on a long-term contract. There is no doubt that Landry has been a dynamite player since coming into the NFL but is it because of his true talent level or is it because of the scheme he is in? While we aren’t doubting his talent, we ask if his production would be the same or better on another team such as the San Francisco 49ers. We compare Landry to current receivers in the NFL, including Doug Baldwin, Davante Adams, Randall Cobb, Tavon Austin, TY Hilton and others. Does he deserve the same kind of contract these receivers recently signed, or should he be getting something a little less? Of course, the big sticking point is guaranteed money. It’s a late edition of Phinsider Radio this week due to some illness running around the Phinsider Radio crew. This week, we explained why the sky is not falling for the Miami Dolphins and why the playoffs aren’t such a longshot when you really break it down and look at it. We give you all the scenarios and what the Dolphins need to do to secure a playoff spot for the second consecutive year. But, even with the playoffs in sight, there are fans who would rather see the Dolphins lose the last two games and get a better draft position. We discuss that line of thinking and give both sides of the argument. If the Dolphins were to make the playoffs, could they make any noise with their up and down team? We hit key points on the defense, Jay Cutler, the WR corps and more. We use those same points to debate what the Dolphins should do this upcoming offseason. Should they draft a quarterback to back up Ryan Tannehill? Can Kenyan Drake be a featured back? What about DeVante Parker? Do you trade him or give him one more year? We take a dive into the game plan that defensive coordinator Matt Burke put together after being embarrassed by the Patriots just two weeks prior. It was a genius plan and someone who helped him execute that plan was none other than AFC Defensive Player of the Week, Xavien Howard. Howard has been a shutdown corner the past two weeks so we discuss whether or not this will continue. Did Howard find the light bulb and can he remain this good the rest of the year and beyond? We also talk about Kenyan Drake and the impressive two games he has put together. Like Howard, we discuss whether or not he can put it all together and become one of the best running backs in the AFC, if not the NFL.
