Phinsider Daily: Why the Dolphins should trade for Jadeveon Clowney and what it means for the future of the franchise Aug 28, 2019

Show notes

On today’s episode of Phinsider Daily, we address the Dolphins’ interest in Houston Texan’s pass-rusher, Jadeveon Clowney. What would it take for Miami to land the superstar defensive end? Could Laremy Tunsil be involved? (no) And what type of compensation would it cost? We also look over the Dolphins’ 53-man roster, and try to figure out which players could be moved to land the play-maker. After Kenny Stills was held out of practice, could he be on the move? What about running back Kenyan Drake, who just shed his walking boot a few days ago? Albert Wilson? The list can go on and on. Lastly, we discuss how Clowney will fit in Flores’ defense and what we can expect from the team in 2019 and beyond. All of this and much more, on this episode of Phinsider Daily. Miami Dolphins: My whirlwind weekend with the Laremy Tunsil news, more on Jadeveon Clowney, and other trade wins Aug 27, 2019

Show notes

The trade winds are blowing hard in Miami. On Friday evening, I (Matt Cannata) reported that the Miami Dolphins were making just about everyone on their team available and that Laremy Tunsil was included in that. On Saturday morning, Tony Pauline confirmed this. Then, all hell broke loose. What exactly went down? Why did we mention his name? And is the truth as black and white as it seems? I take you through my whirlwind weekend with a look behind the scenes of how this all went down. I also give an update on Jadeveon Clowney. Hint: It's not looking good for Miami. Why? I get into this and more. I also touch briefly on the trade rumors surrounding Kiko Alonso, Kenny Stills, and others on the team. Join me on this edition of Phinsider Daily! Show notes

Here’s what’s in store for this episode of Phinsider Daily, and make sure you follow me on Twitter @ASuttonPFN! I’ll interview one of the sharpest minds on the Brian Flores defense: Inside the Pylon’s Mark Schofield. Call me old fashioned, but as NFL fans collectively catch their breath before the regular season, let’s take stock in the man the Dolphins hired and why. ~ How does the “front 6”, sometimes employing smaller players in “LB areas” of the field, function to be effective against the run? ~ How does Flores’ scheme use deception to create pressure? ~ How close is the Miami defense to having the personnel that Flores is used to working with? Miami Dolphins: More questions than answers coming out of third preseason game Aug 23, 2019

Show notes

The Miami Dolphins defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars, but coming out of the game, there are still more questions than answers. More specifically, around who the starting quarterback will be. While the “dress rehearsal” will help push the finishing touches on the roster, it also created many tough decisions for the Dolphins front office and coaching staff. While Ryan Fitzpatrick struggled, Josh Rosen shined. While the running back groups stumbled, Patrick Laird broke through. And Sam Eguavoen is making a case not only to make the roster, but to also be in the starting lineup. We address all of this and more on this week's edition of Phinsider Radio. Phinsider Daily: A Preview of the Miami Dolphins Week 3 matchup vs the Jacksonville Jaguars Aug 22, 2019

Show notes

On today’s episode of Phinsider Daily, I break down the Dolphins Week 3 match-up vs their interstate rival the Jacksonville Jaguars. With so much riding on tonight’s dress rehearsal, which players will seize the moment and prove their worth on the 53-man roster? Can Josh Rosen close the gap between Ryan Fitzpatrick, or has a decision already been made internally? How will the rest of the offense perform, and which of these players could be on the chopping black with 53-man roster cuts on the horizon? We then turn our attention to the defense, and try to narrow down which player’s stock is up, and which is down. How will the linebackers shape up, with key injuries to Kiko Alonso and Raekwon McMillan. And what can we expect from the secondary heading into the regular season All of this and much more, on this episode of Phinsider Daily. Miami Dolphins: Jakeem Grant signs extension, Brian Flores vs. Kenny Stills, and the QB competition Aug 21, 2019

Show notes

Today on Phinsider Daily, Matt Cannata takes a quick look at the long-term extension that Jakeem Grant just signed with the Miami Dolphins. What might they have in mind for Grant moving forward and why was he a priority even though he is fourth or fifth on the depth chart? Cannata looks at several possibilities. He also looks at Brian Flores and the messages he is trying to send. He's sent quite a few in camp already, with Kenny Stills being the latest victim. In fact, he played 7-8 Jay Z consecutive songs at Tuesday's practice. This drama comes on the heels of Stills calling out Jay Z and his new social reform efforts with the NFL. What does it all mean, and is Stills nearing his end in Miami? We also look at the infamous quarterback competition between Josh Rosen and Ryan Fitzpatrick. Who's going to come out on top? Flores may have left a few clues in his press conferences this week, but won't commit to a starter until at least Friday. Be sure to join Cannata on Phinsider Daily for all of this and more regarding YOUR Miami Dolphins. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Phinsider Daily: A look at the Miami Dolphins’ depth chart ahead of their Week 3 dress rehearsal vs Jacksonville Aug 19, 2019

Show notes

On today’s episode of Phinsider Daily, I am joined by newborn daughter to break down the Dolphins’ third depth chart, ahead of their week 3 dress rehearsal with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Why did Brian Flores name Ryan Fitzpatrick the starting quarterback, moments after giving praise to Josh Rosen-for how well he performed vs Tampa Bay? How will the QB position play out in 2019, and what can we expect from Rosen when given his opportunity? We then take a look at the rest of Miami’s offense, and predict how it might look ahead of the 2019 regular season. Who will start at right tackle? How will the Dolphins’ receiving core shape up, and which players are on the bubble? Lastly, we take a look at the Dolphins’ defense and wonder if this is the best unit on the roster? How will the secondary look if Reshad Jones and T.J McDonald are not healthy? And what can we expect from the linebackers, once Kiko Alonso and Raekwon McMillan return from injury.
