S4 Ep343: Recommendation Algorithms & Happy Tidbits For A Cheerful Day Aug 05, 2021

Show notes

Need a little pick-me-up? How about a tip on easily working out? Bethany’s insecure about how many rants she went on last week, so she’s making amends by talking about a few of the things that she loves right now! From spooky Instagram accounts to simple ways to get an ab workout, Bethany’s (mostly) a happy flower this week and is passing the savings on to you! Then, Kathleen is going to turn you into that “confused math lady” meme when she peels back the layers on social media and streaming algorithms. Do you TRULY love the things you love, or do you love them because an algorithm has DECIDED you’ll love them? Are we human, or are we dancers? Who was phone?

S4 Ep341: The Perfect Excuse To Cancel Your Plans - Bonus Jul 26, 2021

Show notes

Happy Loosey Goosey Monday, friends! Bethany is coming clean about a huge (literally) purchase she made that’s taking up her entire living room. Kathleen has a “Plan Canceling Excuse” generator to help you cope with the world opening up again. (Pro Tip: don’t claim that your family gave you syphilis.) The Pope did WHAAAT in Kathleen's bed? Bethany's new hair is giving us the feels. (Are we allowed to say 'the feels' anymore?) Frank Sinatra is the world's collective secret father. Or is that just R____ F_____?
Cheers to a new week. Let's hope it's your best one yet!

Show notes

This show’s topics are delightfully unsettling! First, you know that weird feeling you used to get when you went into your school at night? Or what about the feeling of walking through an empty mall? There’s a name for the locations that elicit that creepy feeling: Liminal Spaces. And Bethany is sharing some pretty bizarre examples, plus talking about how we view the people who work in those off-putting areas. Then, Kathleen cannot stop researching weird stories from coroners! She’s bringing her favorites to the table, but don’t worry: she’s giving some animal joke palate cleansers to make sure you don’t get too overwhelmed with the weird.

Show notes

Have you ever owned a mountain bike? Would you hang this as a trophy? Bethany is feeling inspired by the ‘90s show “Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction” and those ridiculous questions host Jonathan Frakes started the stories with, so she’s making Kathleen answer some of them with her! This leads to a delightful discovery about bibles and purses. Then, Kathleen was inspired by some pretty unprofessional people this weekend and she’s detailing the five times that you definitely should stand up for yourself. Plus, Kathleen gets surprisingly angry about one specific color…...
