Then, our Walter Isaacson speaks to Pulitzer prize-winning historians Annette Gordon-Reed and Jon Meacham to unpack the contradictions of one of America’s founding fathers: Thomas Jefferson, slave owner and advocate for equality. They pick up the discussion of the moment: whether to take down statues that, for many, are symbols of oppression and embody hundreds of years of systemic racism.
