Ep 124: Driftwood (GW36-37) May 01, 2018

Show notes

No pressure, but we're heading into what could be, for many FPL managers, the season's most decisive gameweek. So, how are we setting up ahead of these big doubles? And, for the GW32/33 wildcard crowd, how are we magically turning so much dead weight into the best attacking assets from Manchester City and Spurs? Triple Captain and Bench Boost chips are still in play, plus we pinpoint which teams are now on the beach and solve a few of your listener dilemmas. Hail Cheaters!

Ep 123: Are We There Yet with FPL General (GW35-36) Apr 23, 2018

Show notes

Special guest Mark McGettigan (@FPLGeneral) joins us to preview GW36 and discuss must-have players for the remaining three game weeks. Is Harry Kane a lock for our Triple Captain chips, even after a few questionable eye-tests? How stable is the Manchester City team sheet, given Pep's side overall looks to be the most steady supply for goals? And will Arsenal's Europa League adventures continue to leave Aubameyang out in the cold? Along the way, we hit upon budget defensive options, tackle an inevitable Chip Theory question, and maybe make a few good points along the way. Hail Cheaters!

Ep 122: Pass Me the Rock (GW34-35) Apr 18, 2018

Show notes

While there are still a handful of key matches to be played in GW34, the Always Cheating hosts are already on to GW35 planning. Brandon has triggered his Free Hit chip, while Josh just spent his during the doubles, so this episode features both perspectives on how to approach the blanks in GW35 and how transfers now will impact your FPL squad down the home stretch. From Jesus and Aubameyang to Zaha and Arnautovic, and even Ayoze Pérez, we cover essential players, differentials, and Free Hit punts. We also work through the inevitable rotation headaches for Liverpool, Arsenal, and newly-crowned Premier League champions Manchester City. Hail Cheaters!

Ep 121: City of Glass with FPL Stag (GW33-34) Apr 09, 2018

Show notes

The Cheaters are joined this week by special guest FPL Stag (https://twitter.com/FPLStag), writer at NBC's Rotoworld, to preview the upcoming doubles in GW34. We take a closer look at Manchester United attacking assets in light of their rousing second-half display at the Etihad. Could we possibly be tempted by Alexis or Pogba? We also discuss Chelsea and Spurs, Mahrez versus Vardy, cheap defenders, potential differentials, and ways to work around GW35 if you're without the Free Hit chip. Hail Cheaters!

Ep 120: The Forgotten Gameweek (GW32-33) Apr 02, 2018

Show notes

Salah kept up his blistering scoring pace against Crystal Palace, but, with Kane already back from his ankle injury, GW32 opened the door for a number of other FPL attacking threats. Entering the season's home stretch, how quickly are we thinking we need to fit Kane back into our squads? Can Alexis actually find some form that's worthy of his price? Are we holding Aubameyang for good, or is there a worthwhile "hokey cokey" strategy for bringing heavy-hitters in, out, and then in again? Amid all of the frantic longterm planning, we still make sure to preview GW33 fixtures and captain options, and Brandon explains how his new wildcard team came together. Hail Cheaters!

Ep 119: A Wildcard Revisited (Break-GW32) Mar 26, 2018

Show notes

The official announcement of GW34 rescheduled fixtures, which came late last week, was a bit of a curveball. Now we're reconsidering some of the FPL strategy we outlined in our last episode, especially how active wildcards are impacted by the new predicted season ticker. The Always Cheating hosts are answering a boatload of listener questions, like: Is the bench boost chip only viable in GW37? If so, who and when are we triple captaining? Where does Arsenal fall on the list of priorities? Who are the must-have strikers for the home stretch? Plus, miraculously, we find time to shoehorn in a GW32 preview with a tricky captaincy discussion. Hail Cheaters!

Ep 118: A Serious Manager (GW31-Break) Mar 20, 2018

Show notes

Wildcards are now activating across the FPL community. But before we delve into strategy going forward, we have a quick review of the crazy blank GW31 that just passed. Did Salah's incredible points haul devalue all of our careful planning? What lessons did we learn from the first major Free Hit appearance? Looking ahead, Josh lays out the chip options for managers who've already played their wildcard, while Brandon is wildcard-active and looking for must-haves and differentials to fill out his refreshed squad. We'll be back next week for a full GW32 preview. Hail Cheaters!

Ep 117: Loot Crate (GW30-31) Mar 13, 2018

Show notes

After a low-scoring, rant-heavy GW30 recap, Josh and Brandon look ahead to one of the weirdest game weeks in recent memory: four fixtures, with twelve teams blanking, and featuring some of the most underwhelming FPL assets of the season. So what's the plan? We consider who the must-have players and cheeky punts are for GW31, whether you're on a Free Hit chip or not. Are their any clean sheets? Is Salah the only captaincy choice? What will the GW32 fallout be? Stay tuned for a lightning round with listener questions and much more. Hail Cheaters!

Ep 116: Black Hole (GW29-30) Mar 06, 2018

Show notes

An average scoring GW29 was disappointing for most managers, but also kind of befitting the calm before the FPL storm that kicks off in GW31. In this episode, we're previewing what could be the last "normal" game week of the season in GW30. Do we dare break away from a Salah captaincy as Liverpool head to Old Trafford? Can Kane finally manage to explode for points after a demanding midweek Champions League match? Is Sterling ripe for the transfer, freeing up some needed midfield funds and a GW31 slot? Plus we take on listener questions and work through some angst about the "pretentious" bonus points system. Hail Cheaters!

Ep 115: A Thousand Points of Light (GW28-29) Feb 27, 2018

Show notes

While there's still one fixture left to go in GW28, we have little time to dwell. Josh and Brandon jump straight into a preview of GW29 fixtures, hunting for yet more differentials. Do oddball in-form players like Deeney and van La Parra stand a chance in our squads? Can Walcott and Wilson survive? And where do we stand with Arsenal after their Carabao Cup meltdown, given their enticing run of fixtures? Stay tuned for the inevitable digressions into blank game weeks and chip strategy.
