Amanda is the first Latina and first out queer person to hold the position of Clerk and Recorder in Jefferson County, a position she was elected into in 2022. She has spent her career creating policies that encourage civic engagement because she fundamentally believes that our democracy is better when everyone participates. Gonzalez is a former Executive Director of Colorado Common Cause, a nonpartisan good government group where she helped craft and pass policies that expanded ballot access, reduced the influence of money in politics, and ensured a complete count in the 2020 Census.

Alvina and Amanda talk about the work Amanda has done to make voting accessible for everyone in Colorado, particularly people who might need support finding locations, getting the correct IDs, or registering to vote. Amanda recounts how Colorado navigated voting during COVID-19 and how they have continued to ensure everyone can vote. They continue to discuss Amanda's work within government agencies, like the "Passport Palooza," where people did not need appointments to get their passports processed. They discussed how government agencies are supposed to be there for you and what you can expect from them.

They wrap up their conversation by discussing how they unwind with their favorite television shows and music. They also discuss Britney Spears and how they connect with where she is in her life and how what she has gone through has lessons for our community.
