    Already Friends

After much thought and consideration, both Ceara and Allison have decided to step away from Already Friends. We poured our hearts into the show for 5 full years and are so proud of what we created. The AFP community has grown with us and given us so much grace and support over the years. We’re both grieving in closing this chapter, but we know there’s new projects on the horizon. Thank you for joining us in this journey. We’re forever grateful for all of you! We will keep the episodes on Apple and Spotify through for at least the rest of 2026 for you to continue enjoying. If you're missing us, there's 50+ bonus episodes on patreon.com/alreadyfriends

“Non-Traditional” Lifestyles: Moving in With My Boyfriend, Babies Before Marriage, and Long Distance Friendships (WWYBD?!) Oct 29, 2025
    Show notes

Ep 250: In the catch up segment, Allison and Ceara share about their weeks at home. Allison had two pregnancy appointments, finished furnishing her apartment, is making progress on her baby registry / checklist, and is enjoying fall activities like baking cookies. Ceara just returned from a trip to 30A in Florida with her in-laws. She got to test out her new snorkel gear and had a memorable private sunrise yoga session.

In the WWYBD part of the episode, we answer questions about lifestyle choices that go against social norms, particularly regarding relationships, engagements, marriage, babies, and life stages. We also touch work-place boundaries, such as keeping drinking separate.

WWYBD (what would your bestie do) is where we answer listener-submitted questions. You can submit questions any time via our website, and then we pull questions to fit a specific theme.

    TAKEAWAYS:

    • Friendship can remain strong despite different life phases.
    • Proximity plays a significant role in maintaining friendships.
    • Friendships formed in shared environments can be particularly strong.
    • You should remain authentic to your own values as often as possible.
    • Trust your own intuition before listening to other people.
    • Your happiness doesn’t need to be dimmed.
    • Open and proactive communication will help most situations.

    QUESTIONS ASKED:

    • Do you guys feel like your friendship is just as strong now that you’re in different phases of life?
    • The social hierarchy at my work is all about who drinks the most/talks about going out the most and I’m not into it. Do I be my authentic self or play the corporate game with this and worry about being my authentic self outside of work?
    • What are your thoughts about living together before getting engaged?
    • How have you handled any negativity in regards to the “non traditional route” with marriage post-baby? We’re both firm in our choice and are so excited for what’s to come, but we know it’s going to come across our desk eventually!
    • I just found out my partner and i have different dreams of what “forever” together. ie, marriage vs. lifelong partners. call it quits?
    • Should I unfriend a long time friend on social media before I post that I got engaged ? Back story she has been with the same guy for 7+ years and has always wanted to get engaged. I’m trying to save her from the jealousy or anger that might arise from the news.

Wedding Planning Hiccups, Pursuing Higher Education and Cozy Home Fall Tips (WWYBD?!) Sep 24, 2025
    Show notes

Ep 245: In the catch up segment, Allison and Ceara share the highlights of their week for the first 20 minutes of the episode. Ceara went to Colombia for a Mizzou football game and is excited about getting her front porch redone. Allison had a lot of success finding items for her fall wardrobe at a vintage clothing market. We both share progress updates of our "curriculum" studies (tune into last week’s episode). Then we discuss the societal pressure of quick communication expectations due to the accessibility our phones create.

In the WWYBD part of the episode, we talk about the complexities of wedding planning in a way that avoids drama, the opportunity of going back to pursue higher education when you’re age 30+, and explore tips for creating a cozy home environment, emphasizing the impact of aesthetics, intention, feng shui and personal touches.

I am thinking about going back to school to get my masters degree - and my employer would pay for 75% of it. Tips To Get Over A Break Up, Normalizing Therapy, and Small Solo Trips To Build Confidence (WWYBD?!) Aug 27, 2025
    Show notes

Ep 241: In the catch up segment, Allison and Ceara share about their latest travels. Ceara had a fun friend-filled week. She went to Chicago for a wedding, shot her friend’s engagement photos, and did a 4 mile walk with a friend. Next week, Ceara and her sister are going to New York for two fun events so she’s looking forward to that.

Allison was in Omaha to check on her shop, see family, and get some paperwork done. Her highlight of the week was doing a professional maternity shoot at a studio. After she got back home to The Netherlands, she had a few lazy, restful days recovering from the long journey and jet lag.

In the WWYBD part of the episode, we answer questions about how to get over a breakup when you’ve been together for a long time and have children together, how to financially balance your own big life moments while supporting your friends' events as well, and some advice on how to get started solo traveling.

WWYBD (what would your bestie do) is where we answer listener-submitted questions. You can submit questions any time via our website, and then we pull questions to fit a specific theme.

    TAKEAWAYS:

    • Catching up with college friends can be refreshing and uplifting.
    • Breakups require time and reflection to heal.
    • Keeping a journal can help process negative feelings after a breakup.
    • It's okay to say no to expensive trips or events if it's not feasible.
    • Friendship dynamics can shift during significant life events.
    • The Midwest offers great opportunities for solo travel and friendly encounters.

    QUESTIONS ASKED:

    • Tips to get over a breakup? We were together for 7 years and have two kids. It became toxic and abusive so I know I made the right decision to protect me and my kids.
    • One of my friends is having her 30th birthday in Tulum. She’s been supportive of myself and our other friends who are recently married by attending our events. Unfortunately, because of all the destination weddings I’ve already committed to this year, I can’t financially swing her birthday trip and she’s really upset. Am I a bad friend?
    • You both have inspired me to try some solo traveling to get outside of my comfort zone! As a fellow midwest girly, do you have any travel recommendations in the midwest so I can start small?
