    Episode 1728: The Empowered Spiritual Walk Pt II, Romans 8:6-11 – October 4, 2026 Oct 04, 2026
    Show notes

In Part II of The Empowered Spiritual Walk, we continue our line-by-line study through Romans 8 and examine the contrast between the carnal mind and the spiritually minded life. Romans 8 teaches us that being carnally minded leads to death, while being spiritually minded produces life and peace. As believers, we have been given the Holy Spirit, but we are still called to deliberately resist the flesh, recognize the progression of temptation, trust the Lord, remain grounded in His word, and yield ourselves to the Spirit. We also look at what it means to have the Spirit of Christ dwelling within us, the assurance that comes from being sealed by the Holy Spirit, and several practical markers that can help us recognize the Spirit’s renewing work in our lives. And ultimately, Romans 8:11 points us back to an amazing reality: the same Spirit who raised Jesus Christ from the dead dwells within every believer. The question becomes: How do we maximize the power of the Holy Spirit within us? The answer is Christ. Taught by Assistant Pastor Mac at Calvary Kaneohe Hawaii.

    Episode 1727: The Empowered Spiritual Walk Pt I, Romans 8:1-6 – October 4, 2026 Oct 04, 2026
    Show notes

What does it really mean to be empowered by the Holy Spirit? Romans chapter eight provides the answer to the struggle revealed in Romans chapter seven. The Christian life cannot be lived through the strength of our own flesh. The law can reveal our sin and our need for God, but it cannot give us the power to become sanctified. That power comes through God, the Holy Spirit. In this teaching from Romans 8:1-6, we look at the freedom believers have from condemnation in Christ Jesus, the law of the Spirit of life, the importance of Christ being fully God and fully man, the righteous requirement of the law fulfilled in Christ, and the difference between setting our minds on the flesh and setting our minds on the things of the Spirit. We also look practically at what it means to cooperate with the Holy Spirit: depending upon Him, praying before reacting, keeping our thoughts centered on spiritual things, remaining saturated in the Word of God, confessing when we stumble, and moving forward in the Spirit. Episode 1725: Wretched but Worthy, Romans 7:14-25 – September 27, 2026 Sep 27, 2026
    Show notes

The struggle between the flesh and the Spirit is real for every believer. In Romans 7:14–25, the Apostle Paul describes the painful conflict of wanting to do what is right while still confronting the sin nature that dwells within us. In this teaching, we look at why God’s law is holy, just, and good, yet cannot sanctify us through the power of the flesh. We examine Paul’s statement that “in my flesh nothing good dwells,” the importance of the Holy Spirit in the believer’s life, and Samson as an example of the difference between being strengthened by the Spirit and attempting to operate in our own strength. We also look at the battle that takes place in the mind and practical ways to take ungodly thoughts captive: recognizing them through self-examination, confronting them according to the word of God, committing them to prayer, and saturating our minds with Scripture. Episode 1724: Dead to the Law, Perfected by The Spirit, Romans 7:1-13 – September 27, 2026 Sep 27, 2026
    Show notes

What does it mean for a believer to be “dead to the law”? In Romans 7:1-13, the Apostle Paul explains that the law of God is holy, just, and good, but sinful man does not have the ability to produce righteousness through the law. Instead, the law reveals sin and exposes our need for the grace of God. Through the body of Christ, believers have been released from the condemning power of the law and joined to the risen Christ so that we can bear fruit to God. Rather than serving God in the oldness of the letter and the strength of our flesh, we are called to serve in the newness of the Spirit. This teaching also examines the Mosaic Law, the New Covenant, the relationship between law and grace, Paul’s personal testimony, and why love is at the center of bearing fruit for God. Episode 1722: Free to Live for Everlasting Life, Romans CH 6:16-23 — Sunday, September 20, 2026 Sep 20, 2026
    Show notes

What does it really mean to be free from sin? In Romans 6:16-23, the Apostle Paul reminds believers that although we have been set free from the power of sin, we still make daily choices regarding whom we will serve. Serving sin leads to bondage and death, while obedience leads to righteousness, sanctification, spiritual fruit, and the fullness of the life God has given us. In this teaching, we examine the difference between positional righteousness and our ongoing sanctification, what it means to become slaves of righteousness, why obedience is an expression of faith rather than an attempt to earn salvation, and how believers should understand the shame that accompanies sin. Episode 1721: God’s Grace Leads to Obedience, Romans 6:12-16 — Sunday, September 20, 2026 Sep 20, 2026
    Show notes

What does it really mean to be “under grace”? Does God’s grace simply provide forgiveness when we sin, or should His grace actually change the way that we live? In Romans 6:12-16, the Apostle Paul tells believers not to allow sin to reign in their mortal bodies and not to present their members as instruments of unrighteousness. Instead, we are called to present ourselves to God as those who are alive from the dead. In this teaching, we examine the relationship between God’s grace and obedience, the continuing battle with the sin nature, the difference between conditional surrender and unconditional obedience, and what it means to live under grace rather than under the law. Taught by Assistant Pastor Mac at Calvary Kaneohe Hawaii.

    Episode 1720: The Feast of Tabernacles – Thursday, September 17th, 2026 Sep 18, 2026
    Show notes

The Feast of Tabernacles, also known as Sukkot, is the final feast called out in Leviticus 23 and a feast overflowing with the themes of joy, remembrance, provision, rest, and the presence of God. In this teaching, we look at God’s commands for the children of Israel and remember how He brought them out of Egypt and provided for them in the wilderness. We also examine the feast’s connection to rejoicing before the Lord, the significance of the eighth day, and the importance of remembering God’s past faithfulness as we trust Him with our future. We then look at two ceremonies associated with the Feast of Tabernacles during the time of Christ—the water-libation and illumination ceremonies—and how the words of Jesus in John 7 and John 8 reveal Him as the living water and the Light of the World.
