#343: Almost Persuaded - Choosing to Believe in an Age of Unbelief Aug 16, 2022

Show notes

What does it mean to be a person of belief in a season when skepticism is more popular? In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses the middle ground of being "almost persuaded" to believe in Jesus. He presents a series of statements, such as "I am persuaded; Jesus of Nazareth is the Way, the Truth, and the Life," and discusses why each proclamation is true. Belief is not static but is something that is constantly growing or diminishing. Pastor Allen invites us to personally reflect on each statement as a way to strengthen our convictions so we can serve the Lord with an undivided heart.

#342: Big Trouble Ahead - Transmitting God's Power Aug 10, 2022

Show notes

Hebrews 6 tells us the laying on of hands is foundational to our faith, but we don't spend much time thinking about it or practicing it. In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses the laying on of hands, offers examples of it in Scripture, and explains why we do it. The laying on of hands is a way to transmit blessings, spiritual authority, wisdom, the Holy Spirit, healing, a spiritual gift, or a ministry. It's also a biblical way to commission a person for service in the body of Christ. Our words carry spiritual authority, and when we bless someone with our words and laying on our hands, we invite God's supernatural power into their lives and their assignments.

#341: Big Trouble Ahead - Appearing Before the Judge Aug 09, 2022

Show notes

One day we will appear before the judgment seat of Christ—that's not a threat, but a promise that can bring great hope to Christ-followers. In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson makes us aware of different points of judgment that await us and encourages us to live our lives in such a way that judgment will be in our favor. He offers Scripture to show how our faithfulness to Jesus in this life will determine our opportunities in eternity. How intentionally do you use the gifts God gave you? Do you eagerly pursue Him and His purposes, or are you often swept into worldly pursuits? We want to make choices that lead to God rewarding us for the way we served Him with our time, talents, resources, and efforts.

#340: Big Trouble Ahead - Preparing For Eternal Judgment Aug 05, 2022

Show notes

Judgment is not always a bad thing—it can be in your favor! In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses the fact that God will judge each of us one Day, and truly acknowledging this can change the way we live our lives. We are saved when we accept Jesus as Lord of our lives, but maturing as Christ-followers requires intentionality and effort. Pursuing godliness, holiness, purity, and righteousness unleashes something that will bear fruit for all eternity. The majority of our existence is going to be spent in eternity, and our opportunities there will be linked to what we've chosen to do in time—so choose the honor the Lord in all your ways.

#339: Big Trouble Ahead - The Resurrection of the Dead Aug 04, 2022

Show notes

When we have courage to say "yes" to the Lord in the moment, we impact eternity. In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses the reality of resurrection and eternity, and how thinking about these topics can help us gain God's perspective on our lives. Jesus was the first to be resurrected, and God will raise us from the dead, too. What does that look like? Will we know each other? Will we look the same way we do now? Pastor Allen offers Scriptures to help answer those questions and provide additional insight. He also spends time discussing Christian Nationalism, patriotism, and the importance of putting Jesus first in your life.

#338: Big Trouble Ahead - Instruction for Baptism Aug 02, 2022

Show notes

The New Testament describes baptisms in plural—there is more than one type of baptism. In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses John's baptism, Christian baptism, and Holy Spirit baptism. Each type of baptism serves a different purpose in our Christian lives. Jesus submitted Himself to be baptized by John, and He commanded His disciples to wait to be baptized in the Holy Spirit before they left Jerusalem. Baptism was important to Jesus, and it's wise to learn why it should be important to us, too. If we choose to yield to the power of God and follow His commands, we help His Kingdom come and His will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.
