Show notes

Many identify themselves based on race, gender, nationality, or their occupation. But as Christ-followers, the allegiance of our lives is to Jesus—and that's where our identity should rest. In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses what it means to identify as a Christian. He walks through three questions about the defining factors of Jewish, American, and Christian identities, and he pulls from the New Testament to show how the fruit of our lives—our actions, behaviors, and motives—indicate our true identity and spiritual maturity. Pastor Allen looks at current events through a biblical lens to analyze the role the Church plays in culture and whether the fruit of a faith-filled people is evident in our nation today.

In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses the fear of God—holding a high respect for the Lord that ultimately affects your thoughts, desires, and behaviors. We may think the antidote to fear is courage, but that's not the case—the remedy for our fears is trust in God. Pastor Allen draws from passages throughout the Old and New Testaments, illustrating the differences between healthy and unhealthy fear. #595: The Display of Good & Evil Oct 29, 2024

Show notes

God's Word instructs us to overcome evil with good, and if we're given an instruction from God, we can trust it's possible to complete. So, how can we overcome evil with good? In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson answers this question, teaching from the Gospel of Luke. He walks us through Jesus' Passion—His crucifixion, death, and resurrection—and we see different responses from different kinds of people around Jesus. Some chose to mock Him, some stayed silent, and some spoke up. What kind of people will we be? Overcoming evil will require great courage—courage that God promises to provide for us.

#594: Gethsemane To Golgotha Oct 24, 2024

Show notes

Even facing brutal execution, Jesus refused to disassociate from the Kingdom of God. In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses Jesus' arrest and conviction, as told by the Gospel of Luke. Over the course of Jesus' journey, we see contrasts between those who choose to align themselves with God's Kingdom and those who do not. Pastor Allen teaches about the implications of this demonstration for the world today. It's our turn to choose: Will we believe or not believe? Will we be faithful or unfaithful? #592: Jesus and the Second Temple Oct 17, 2024

Show notes

Our generation is at a cultural crossroads, and our future will be determined by what we decide to do. In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses passages in the Gospel of Luke where we find Jesus at the Temple, as well as some important points of Second Temple history. Some of the most notable events in Jesus' ministry took place at the Temple, and He had a crucial message for His generation. Pastor Allen shows how that message applies to our generation as he offers a biblical perspective on our current cultural climate and the choice we face. Will we choose humility and repentance, or pride and indifference? The first option leads to God's mercy, while the other will bring His judgment.

#590: Disciples with Authority & Power Oct 15, 2024

Show notes

Jesus gave His followers important assignments, but He didn't leave them unequipped. His power and authority are available to us, if we decide to commit to following Him. In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses discipleship, as demonstrated in the Gospel of Luke. The twelve disciples didn't always have the complete picture or understand entirely what Jesus was trying to tell them—but that didn't stop Jesus from trusting them with the future of His Church. Jesus' responses to them teach us about what discipleship should look like, even today. There's a cost that comes with discipleship—but there's a great reward, too: We surrender the things that fade in exchange for eternity with our Lord.

#589: Flags of Fellowship featuring Yael Eckstein Oct 11, 2024

Show notes

"Disaster on God's people is disaster on God's people, and Jews and Christians are in this together," Yael Eckstein said. Join Pastor Allen Jackson for an interview with Eckstein, President of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (IFCJ), as we remember those impacted by the October 7 attacks in Israel. Eckstein discusses the work the IFCJ is doing to provide aid, relief, and hope for those affected by the war. She shares how the prayers and support of Christians in America has been encouraging and urges us to continue praying for the peace of Israel. This interview was a part of the Flags of Fellowship event, hosted by IFCJ, Trinity Broadcasting Network, and hundreds of churches across the United States, including World Outreach Church. Antisemitism is on the rise again, and as Christians, we need to use our voices and boldly stand with our friends in Israel.
