That is the question we ask ourselves in “S2E10: allegedly, they’re rewriting history?!” Throughout the episode, we discuss the many ways in which our understandings of the past have been erased, distorted, and manipulated, and the implications this has on our understanding of ourselves and the world around us.

We go on to explore how we can become aware of revisionist narratives in order to pursue a true and liberatory understanding of what happened in our past, recognizing the necessity of using our true history to guide and inform the steps we take towards our future.

In this episode, we touch on navigating toxic parents, the demands of parenthood, and healing your inner child. Furthermore, we discuss how, as a society, we often wade into eugenicist territory when we discuss/determine “fit” for parenthood. In S1E10 of allegedly?!, we talk about beauty and desirability! Specifically, we talk about all the ways beauty has been rendered as a tool of violence. We set out to explore the ways beauty has served to only strengthen the holds that fatphobia, colorism, ableism, ageism, and many other -isms and -phobias have in our society, while also recognizing the role we have in upholding beauty standards that not only inflict violence on those around us but also ourselves. However, in recognizing that, how do we move forward? How do we honor the beauty in ourselves and everything that surrounds us, despite acknowledging the ways in which the very concept of beauty has been used to enact so much harm?!
