All Things Covered with Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden

Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden have made a living for their coverage skills on the football field, and while it’s a different technique, they’re now applying those traits on their podcast ‘All Things Covered’. Instead of wide receivers, tight ends and running backs, they’ll be covering sports, entertainment, social issues, personal interests and more. Every Wednesday, the 8-time Pro Bowler Peterson and 2-time Super Bowl champion McFadden will discuss what’s happening on the gridiron as well as what intrigues them off the field. Each week they’ll welcome a star from the sports and entertainment world to have wide-ranging conversations about what interests them. Guests can include active or former football players but also athletes and influencers from other sports and walks of life. Football is how we know our hosts, but far from what defines Pat and BMac. The name says everything; expect all things to be covered! You can also watch us on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/AllThingsCovered

They'll see each other next month in Canton, Ohio, but before then Bryant McFadden got the chance to chat with his former (and first) NFL head coach, Bill Cowher in the lead up to the Hall of Fame induction ceremony. BMac and BC discuss that surprise moment of learning he'd be enshrined and the distinct Black and Gold feel to this year's class. Not only has Cowher been writing a Hall of Fame speech, but he's also been writing a book called 'Heart and Steel' and available now. He explains the purpose goes way beyond football. 'The Chin' details landing the job with his hometown team, building a culture in Pittsburgh and drafting Ben Roethlisberger before diving into memories of the Steelers 2005 Super Bowl run. That group captured a ring but was it even the best team he coached? Cowher comments on Mike Tomlin's coaching future as well as what it was like to coach Rod Woodson and Troy Polamalu (also Hall of Famers). Finally, Superlatives.

We then transition into SKOL Check-In (8:15), where we cover Danielle Hunter's presence at minicamp, a scary situation for a Minnesota rookie and the potential of the defense. Show notes

The ban has been fully lifted as we welcome more former Miami Hurricanes to the show. Antrel Rolle joins former teammate Bryant McFadden and now former fellow #21 on the Cardinals Patrick Peterson to discuss his journey through college and the pros. But first, BMac and P2 chop things up starting with a focus on Juneteenth, what the league is currently doing to promote social justice and what they can do better. Next, SKOL Check-In covers all things Vikings as Pat P compliments Justin Jefferson for his attitude and route-running ability and offers his impressions on both Kirk Cousins and Kellen Mond. Derrick Brown on 2nd-year goals, Panthers young defense, a costly rookie dinner, picking Auburn & hoops dreams Jun 09, 2021
    Show notes

50 episodes in, we're still celebrating firsts on All Things Covered. On this episode we connect with our first defensive tackle guest and probably the strongest person who has ever appeared on the show. Derrick Brown of the Carolina Panthers joins Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden (36:00), to cover his football journey, which at one point in time looked like it was going to be a basketball journey. But first, P2 and BMac chop it up on the aging process for athletes as Pat details how he treats his body and mind differently as he gets older (1:30). Then, it's time for "SKOL Check-In" as Peterson comments on the Vikings addition of Bashaud Breeland to the secondary (12:00). 'Has Pat Heard!?' truly puts him to the test with sports and non-sports items (17:00), while '7 Questions' has our guys answer the Top 5 coaches they ever went up against (28:15). Then it's time to bring on the man in the middle, Derrick Brown (36:00). DB discusses how he ended up as a football player and then how he ended up at Auburn, while remembering some epic matchups against Georgia, Alabama and Clemson. He explains all that power and explosion through some of his lifting exploits before tapping into his pro career with the Panthers. Brown shares some of his goals entering his 2nd season and what to expect from a Carolina defense featuring Brian Burns, Jaycee Horn and other promising players. Derrick tells Patrick and Bryant the craziest rookie obligation he had last year and how much he had to spend on dinner. Finally, Superlatives!

Patrick Peterson comments on feeling appreciated by the Vikings, omission from Top 100 list, potential of Minnesota's defense, if Aaron Rodgers will play for Packers Jun 03, 2021
    Show notes

Last year, we featured Cardinals check-ins on a weekly basis during the season. This year it's time for change not just to Vikings check-in, but to SKOL check-in as Pat P is eager to about his new team. Patrick Peterson is embracing his new situation and new opportunity with the Minnesota Vikings. Recently, we've seen some vintage Pat P clips from the team's OTAs as he tells us how he physically feels. Not only does his body feel great, but he finally feels appreciated on an organizational level. Our colleague Pete Prisco recently released his Top 100 NFL players for the 2021 season and P2 was a notable omission. Pat reacts and makes a guarantee for the future of that list. We also get his thoughts on working with Mike Zimmer, the potential of the Minnesota defense with a focus on the secondary. Who is someone that has surprised him during these offseason activities? The answer actually might surprise YOU. Lastly, how closely is Peterson monitoring Aaron Rodgers' situation with the Packers, knowing that Green Bay should be the stiffest competition in the division? This is our first true SKOL check-in!

Chris Bosh on LeBron's future, Heat hypotheticals, Olympics with Kobe, Raptors' memories becoming an author Jun 02, 2021
    Show notes

Chris Bosh is an All-Star, a 2-time champion, soon-to-be Pro Basketball Hall of Famer and now an author and All Things Covered podcast guest. The multi-talented Bosh joins Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden to discuss his basketball journey and how his path inspired him to share lessons from along the way in his new book: Letters to a Young Athlete. His growing list of accolades recently expanded with the announcement of his induction into the hall in Springfield, Massachusetts, and hoops immortality. What was that feeling like after having his playing days cut short due to medical issues? Chris explains the validation for the first chapter of his life and career, but doesn't hint at slowing down in the next chapter. The Dallas, Texas, native takes us from his humble beginnings to a brief stop in Atlanta at Georgia Tech to Toronto, a summer in Beijing and some wild years in Miami. Hear about the culture shock of a teenager playing in Canada for the Raptors, an Olympian sharing the court with Kobe Bryant and a budding superstar sacrificing to join LeBron James and Dwyane Wade as part of the Big 3. What if that group had stuck together for longer? Would they have delivered more than 2 titles? Bosh reflects on that era of basketball and predicts how many more titles LeBron will win in his career. Finally, Superlatives, where we hear Chris' Raptors Mount Rushmore plus the best time he ever had at LIV.

Champ Bailey on mastering CB position, learning from Deion Sanders and Darrell Green, famous trade to Denver, Tim Tebow & current Broncos  May 26, 2021
    Show notes

This week's guest was an inspiration to both of our hosts for his ability to play both sides of the ball in college and bring some added swag to the SEC. And although Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden ultimately signed elsewhere, they each took visits to the University of Georgia because of the standard that Champ Bailey had set. So it's only right that we welcome one of the most accomplished corners ever to the show (25:30)! But first, P2 and BMac chop it up on what's happening at Vikings OTAs (1:30). Does Pat have a swag update to share? And how is he acclimating with his new organization? 'Has Pat Heard!?' sees how much he knows about the latest happenings with a member of his 2011 draft class and what went down in the golf world this weekend (11:30). '7 Questions' asks if the guys prefer to play man or zone coverage (17:30). Next it's time for our secondary to expand. Champ Bailey discusses everything from his collegiate exploits to his pro dominance and many moments along his career (25:30). First, the Georgia native details his start in football, how he ended up with the Dawgs and finishing 7th in the 1998 Heisman Trophy voting. We then take it to the NFL as this GOAT shares what it was like learning from 2 other all-time studs at the position and teaming up with Deion Sanders and Darrell Green in the Washington secondary. P2 has to ask some technical DB questions regarding Champ's stance and we get educated on an absolutely wild stat from his career. Bailey tells the guys what it was like to get traded to Denver in 2004, how he developed his reputation as a strong tackler, what happened on that infamous play with Ben Watson and his other-worldly 2006 season. An inquisitive Pat P hears all sorts of Hall of Fame details before we cover current Broncos topics such as former QB Tim Tebow returning to the NFL as a tight end, the selection of CB Patrick Surtain II and Aaron Rodgers rumors. Finally, Superlatives where Champ lists his top 5 cornerbacks of all time!
