Saints Pick Up HUGE Need In Latest Mock Draft - After Further Review, March 19, 2024 Mar 19, 2024
    Show notes

Mel Kiper's latest mock draft reflects significant changes due to free agency, particularly in quarterback movements. Notably, with Kirk Cousins joining the Atlanta Falcons and Russell Wilson to the Pittsburgh Steelers, it solidifies the draft strategy for certain teams. Kiper predicts Caleb Williams as the top pick for the Bears, while other quarterbacks like Jayden Daniels and Bo Nix find their potential landing spots. With multiple quarterbacks likely off the board before the New Orleans Saints' pick at 14, there's anticipation for a valuable player to be available. Kiper's projection of Oluf Fashanu to the Saints aligns with one commentator's dream scenario, emphasizing the importance of addressing the offensive line despite past draft decisions. Overall, the draft landscape promises intrigue and opportunity for teams like the Saints amidst the quarterback shuffle.
Lee Feinswog joins the show to talk sports and beer.
Willie Green prepares the Pelicans to face the Nets tonight, aiming to capitalize on Brooklyn's struggles. Despite Dyson Daniels being out, the team's depth remains an advantage. Green emphasizes focusing on one game at a time amidst the playoff race. The Pelicans' recent success, particularly in third quarters, reflects their attention to detail and execution. With Daniels nearing return, Green anticipates bolstering the team's lineup further.

Saints' Chase Young Needs Neck Procedure - After Further Review, March 19, 2024 Mar 19, 2024
    Show notes

Chase Young, former number two overall pick, joins the New Orleans Saints on a one-year deal worth $13 million, fully guaranteed. Excitement surrounds his arrival as he aims to contribute to the team's success and return to the playoffs. Despite a neck procedure expected to sideline him into training camp, the Saints are optimistic about his potential impact. While some concerns arise from his injury history, the signing aligns with the team's strategy and addresses a positional need. Young's presence alters the team's draft plans and signifies a commitment to winning culture and tradition in New Orleans.
Shea Dixon provides insights on LSU's recruiting success, particularly in securing Tyler Miller, a highly touted offensive lineman from Mississippi. Miller's commitment adds to LSU's impressive 2025 class, which includes several top-ranked players at their positions. Brad Davis's coaching approach and local ties contribute to LSU's recruiting prowess. While offensive recruits dominate, defensive recruiting is gaining momentum with new coaching staff additions. Shay highlights potential defensive commits in the near future but suggests offensive line commitments may continue to lead the way due to positional needs and ongoing recruitment efforts.
LSU gymnasts Aleah Finnegan and Konnor McClain discuss their training schedules and upcoming competitions, including the SEC Championships and potential Olympic trials. Finnegan reflects on her NIL deal with Gordon and her journey to the Olympics representing the Philippines, while McClain shares her aspirations for the US Olympic team. Both gymnasts highlight the rigorous training and the transition from collegiate to elite gymnastics. With a focus on maintaining peak performance, the LSU gymnastics team aims for success in the postseason, including a shot at the national championship.

LSU Lands No. 1 IOL in Class of 2025 - After Further Review, March 18, 2024 Mar 18, 2024
    Show notes

The New Orleans Saints have secured a significant addition to their roster: Chase Young, the former No. 2 overall pick, is joining the team on a one-year, fully-guaranteed $13 million deal. Young, who previously played for the San Francisco 49ers, brings his talent as a productive NFL edge rusher to the Saints’ defense. Despite injuries early in his career, Young has shown immense promise. This move likely means the Saints won’t use their 14th overall pick on another edge rusher. With Young’s arrival, New Orleans gains a formidable weapon off the edge.
LSU continues its impressive recruiting streak under Coach Brian Kelly. On Sunday, they secured a commitment from Tyler Miller, the number one interior offensive line prospect in the country for 2025. Standing at 6’6" and 318 lbs, Miller chose LSU over Ole Miss and Mississippi State. On3 ranks him as the best interior offensive lineman nationally. With Miller’s addition, LSU’s 2025 recruiting class is now No. 1 nationally and includes other top-tier talents like five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood, five-star wide receiver Dakorien Moore, and five-star running back Harlem Berry. Brian Kelly’s focus on tight ends and offensive linemen has paid off, and LSU’s conveyor belt of talent continues to impress.
Mark Zinno joins Matt to discuss the biggest free agent moves in the NFC South and how it impacts the Vegas odds.
Musso wraps the hour with Tigers in the Pros.

Saints Signing EDGE Chase Young - After Further Review, March 18, 2024 Mar 18, 2024
    Show notes

LSU lost the SEC opening series to Mississippi State, falling two games to one.
While fan frustration has centered on the offense, it was the pitching and defense that disappointed during the series.
LSU allowed a total of 33 runs over the three games, a significant concern.
Starting pitching, including Luke Holman and Gage Jump, struggled after previously not allowing any earned runs.
Despite the challenges, LSU remains a talented team with room for improvement as the season continues.
Chase Young, the former number two overall pick, is visiting the New Orleans Saints in free agency. His presence at the facility has sparked excitement among fans. The situation feels reminiscent of the Jadeveon Clowney courtship a few years ago. Despite Young’s injury history, his talent is undeniable. At just 24 years old, he could significantly bolster the Saints’ pass rush. The team should do everything possible to sign him and not let him leave without a deal.
On Selection Sunday, the Southeastern Conference (SEC) had a remarkable day. Eight SEC teams secured NCAA tournament bids, the most from any conference. Tennessee and Kentucky earned high seeds, while Bama, Auburn, South Carolina, Florida, Mississippi State, and Texas A&M also made the cut. This achievement reflects the SEC’s progress since 2013 when it was a three-bid league. As an LSU fan, the anticipation of seeing your team’s name on the screen is exhilarating, and this year’s strong SEC representation adds to the excitement of March Madness.
The Kansas City Chiefs are facing the possibility of exploring other options if an upcoming sales tax vote doesn’t go their way. While it’s not clear whether they would actually leave, the team’s president, Mark Donovan, emphasized their desire to stay. Despite historical instances of teams relocating, the Chiefs’ recent success and an $800 million renovation plan for Arrowhead Stadium suggest they are committed to remaining in Kansas City. However, as with any professional sports franchise, nothing can be ruled out entirely.
