    Adventures Through The Mind

Adventures Through The Mind (ATTMind) is an interview-based podcast focusing on topics relevant and related to psychedelic cultures, psychedelic research, and psychedelic medicine.

It focuses on supporting the personal and cultural integration of psychedelic experiences in a functional and healthy way; and always holding a curiosity towards immediate and valuable relevance to a person’s lived life

“The psychedelic experience really shines when we find a way to integrate what we’ve learned from it into our daily lives. My desire to help that with that integration on a personal and cultural level is why I make Adventures Through The Mind”

ATTMind is hosted by Canadian author and public educator, James W. Jesso.

James W. Jesso is the author of Decomposing The Shadow: Lessons From The Psilocybin Mushroom and The True Light Of Darkness, both about his experiences exploring the potentials of psychedelics.

Using Psychedelics To Dismantle Racism | Akua Ofosuhene ~ ATTMind 139 Feb 26, 2021
    Show notes

Akua Ofosuhene is on the show to discuss the role psychedelics can play in dismantling racism in society by helping us learn to let go of the conditioned beliefs we are taught to hold about race in general.

We also talk about how the dismantling of racism is actively harmed by the politics of outrage being carried into our personal relationships, and how getting beyond racism as a society can only truly come about in a cultural context based on the sacredness of the individual.

A Somatic Relational Approach to Psychedelic Therapy | Tooth Fairy & Curlz ~ ATTMind 136 Jan 15, 2021
    Show notes

We feature two anonymous guests on today's episode to talk about applying psychedelics to somatic relational therapy. One of whom is a practicing underground therapist. The other is not a therapist or doing therapy, but a social worker and researcher specializing in somatic healing, interpersonal neurobiology, and psychedelic therapy.

This is a radically different approach to the psychedelic-assisted therapy you are likely aware of--headphones, eye shades, therapist there to hold a hand if needed. This is a therapy that is fully interactive and engaged.

Psilocybin And The Cultivation Of Compassion | James W. Jesso ~ ATTMind 135 Dec 31, 2020
    Show notes

PSILOCYBIN AND COMPASSION ARE BOTH LINKED TO OUR ABILITY TO FEEL EMOTIONAL PAIN AS IT ARISES

By examining this correlation from a trauma-informed, psychotherapeutic framework, we find an understanding of emotional healing and healthy emotional processes, with or without psilocybin on board.

This lecture will explore the essence of compassion and how a lack of it is related to early childhood trauma and emotional repression. Furthermore, it will explore the potential of psilocybin in the resolution of emotional trauma and the cultivation of healthier relationships, as well as the potential of suffering as a necessary skill for being an adult. (p.s. please be aware that there is quite a bit more cursing in this episode than normal.)

How do they relate to our ability to access pleasure, multiple orgasms, and a profound sense of intimacy with ourselves and with others? Being A Psychedelic Person In The Modern Political Landscape | Bett Williams ~ ATTMind 132 Nov 06, 2020
    Show notes

Bett Williams and I explore a number of issues facing the modern politically switched on psychedelic person. We do so with special reference to the damaging impact of social media technologies on our perceptions, identity, and behavior; cultural appropriation within psychedelic ceremony building; and the Dark Side of leftist psychedelic politics. All of which grounded in a discussion around what it means to live psychedelically, as a psychedelic person in relationship with the psilocybin mushroom.

For context, this interview was recorded a couple months ago and it's actually just a coincidence (or accidental synchronicity) that it is being released during the week of the 2020 US presidential election. I'm definitely holding a particular curiosity as to how much the ideas discussed in this episode will be relevant or illuminating to the events that are going to follow in the next coming weeks. But that is a topic for larger wanderings beyond the podcast. I will leave it to the r/ATTMindPodcast subreddit.

In the meantime, though, enjoy this interview with Bett Williams

Bending Reality With Pop Magick | Alex Kazemi ~ ATTMind 131 Oct 30, 2020
    Show notes

Alex Kazemi, author of 'Pop Magick: A Simple Guide To Bending Your Reality', is on the show to talk about using magick and magickal rituals to bend reality, but also how magick has both helped and harmed him on his path into, and through, substance addiction and early fame. We also talk about learning to free ourselves from the simulation of mainstream consumer reality, why the dogmas of the occult world are holding magickal practitioners back, drug-induced psychosis, and even NoFap as a powerful practice of inner alchemy.
