Adventures in Radio Episode 32 - Temple of Vampires Dec 27, 2005
    Show notes

This week I am playing catchup from dropping the continuing "Temple of Vampires" last week. Two episodes back-to-back. The second one is a reading by actors because there are some lost episodes. But the story line continuity will remain. Please Take our Listener Survey

Adventures in Radio Episode 31 - Christmas Command Performance Dec 19, 2005
    Show notes

I stretch the "adventure" just a bit to fit the season as we look at how both America and our soldiers overseas during WW II coped with the dreary year of 1942. The war was not going well and life was looking a bit bleak with Hitler on the move in Europe. To rally our troops and the folks at home, a special Command Performance was broadcast for the first time for the Home Front as well as the fighting soldier's overseas! Look for some well known talent to appear.

Adventures in Radio Episode 30 - Quiet, Please and Temple of Vampires Dec 12, 2005
    Show notes

Two programs this week. The first from the master of superb radio drama - Wyllis Cooper. Cooper was a minimalist in radio presentation - able to create wonder and awe with few actors and sound. This somewhat autobiographical episode - "In the House Where I was Born." Following that is episode 6 of "Temple of Vampires."

Adventures in Radio Episode 29 - Temple of Vampires Dec 06, 2005
    Show notes

Two back-to-back episodes of the Carlton E. Morse thriller - Temple of Vampires - as promised. These are episodes 4 and 5. From the I Love A Mystery series!

Adventures in Radio Episode 28 - Two Adventures Nov 28, 2005
    Show notes

The first adventure you will hear is a true one! During WWII after England had declared war on Germany, Londoners lived in daily fear of bombings as they went about their business. This is a "sound-seeing tour" of London one evening presented by the BBC and CBS Radio. Next up is the third installment of "Temple of Vampires." Please Take our Listener Survey

    Adventures in Radio Episode 27 - The Thirty-nine Steps Nov 21, 2005
    Show notes

This week a brief digression from "Temple of Vampires," I present Robert Montgomery (right) in the John Buchan story "The Thirty-nine Steps." A story about a man's accidental involvement in espionage and crime on the verge of World War I. "Temple of Vampires" returns next week.

Adventures in Radio Episode 26 - Temple of Vampires Nov 15, 2005
    Show notes

This week I begin a 20 part serial of Carlton E. Morse's Temple of Vampires. Morse was one of radio's most prolific writers and a good storyteller to boot. I'll play the first two episodes this week, then include one each week along with other adventures.

Adventures in Radio Episode 25 - Christopher London Nov 08, 2005
    Show notes

In answer to requests for another of the three existing Christopher London episodes, I am returning once more to the Glenn Ford radio serial Adventures of Christopher London. This episode was the premier episode called "The Missing Heiress." Plus a couple of early Glenn Ford radio appearances.

Adventures in Radio Episode 24 - Counterspy Nov 01, 2005
    Show notes

Our radio adventure this week follows in the steps of Phillips H. Lord and his production of David Harding, Counterspy. Harding is an agent who covers overseas as well as spies in our own backyard. This week you'll hear an episode from 1949 where Harding is fighting communists within our country.

Adventures in Radio Episode 23 - The Birds Oct 25, 2005
    Show notes

In 1963, Alfred Hitchcock produced a film called "The Birds" based on the Daphne du Maurier short story. Ten years earlier, a radio version closer to the original story was broadcast over Lux Radio Theatre. This week, our adventure takes us to a town in which it appears the birds are taking their revenge on humans.
