Lord Jesus,

Master of both the light and the darkness, send your Holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas.

We who have so much to do and seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day,

We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us.

We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom.

We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence.

We are your people, walking in darkness, yet seeking the light.

To you we say, "Come Lord Jesus!'

Amen.

Wondrous star, lend thy light.
With the angels let us sing

O come, O come, EmmanuelAnd ransom captive Israel,

That mourns in lonely exile here,Until the Son of God appear.

Refrain

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel Shall come to thee, O Israel!

O come, thou Dayspring, come and cheer

Our spirits by Thine advent here;

Disperse the gloomy clouds of night,

And death's dark shadows put to flight. Refrain

O come, Thou Wisdom from on high

And order all things, far and nigh;

To us the path of knowledge show

And cause us in her ways to go. Refrain

O come Desire of nations, bind

All peoples in one heart and mind.

Bid envy, strife, and quarrels cease;

Fill the whole world with heaven's peace. Refrain
