Jaden Hardy, Bob Huggins Hall of Fame snub + odds and ends from the weekend May 17, 2021
    Show notes

It's Monday, it's May, but the Aaron Torres Podcast rolls on. Aaron discusses Jaden Hardy choosing the G-League over college hoops (and why it's actually a good sign for college hoops), Bob Huggins' Hall of Fame snub and plays "Where Aaron was right, where Aaron was wrong."

Jaden Hardy (2:00): Aaron opens the show by discussing five-star guard Jaden Hardy's decision to bypass college for the G-League, and why, in this particular season, only having two players choose the G-League over college hoops is a great sign for college basketball. Also, how close were Kentucky and UCLA to landing him, and why players and their parents are starting to see what Aaron has discussed for years: The value that college basketball brings for a player.

Bob Huggins Hall of Fame snub (18:00): From there, Aaron transitions to Hall of Fame weekend, which also included an announcement on next year's Hall of Fame class. One person not on the list: Bob Huggins, who is eighth on college basketball's all-time wins list, and has consistently been one of the best coaches in the sport for 30 years. When you hear Huggins' resume you'll be amazed he isn't in already.

Where Aaron Was Right, Where Aaron Was Wrong (30:00): Finally, Aaron plays America's favorite game "Where Aaron Was Right, Where Aaron Was Wrong" discussing Chin Coleman and Orlando Antigua's impact, Mike Woodson's surprise recruiting run, the Knicks in the playoffs and why FCS football in the spring went better than he could've possibly expected.

TyTy Washington, Patrick Baldwin + why is everyone so upset about Tim Tebow getting another NFL shot? May 13, 2021
    Show notes

It's Thursday and we have a rip-roaring new edition of the Aaron Torres Sports Podcast. Aaron breaks down two major commitments from Wednesday - TyTy Washington to Kentucky and Patrick Baldwin to Milwaukee, and what they mean for their two schools. Then he switches to football and wonders why he wonders why everyone is so upset about Tim Tebow getting another shot in the NFL, and says RIP to a college football legend. Here is the full rundown:

TyTy Washington and Patrick Baldwin commit:
Aaron opens the show by discussing two major commitments, as five-stars TyTy Washington and Patrick Baldwin commit to Kentucky and UW-Milwaukee specifically. With Washington headed to Kentucky, Aaron explains why he believes the Wildcats have their missing piece, but why one other player - rumored to be ready to commit - would put the Wildcats back at the top of the sport (2:30). Then he talks about Baldwin's decision to play for his father at UW-Milwaukee, and why the best news for college hoops fans is that he didn't end up at Duke (16:00) as well as another transfer commit at Arkansas.

Tim Tebow outrage + RIP Colt Brennan: Finally, Aaron wraps the show with a little football. He wonders why the world is so outraged that Tim Tebow is getting another shot in the NFL, and explains why there are plenty of examples in pro sports of players who aren't considered the "best" getting a shot over more qualified players (25:00). Finally he wraps by discussing the death of a college football legend, as Colt Brennan passed away at just 37-years-old on Monday (35:00).

Updated "Too Early Top 25" + KSR's Jack Pilgrim discusses Kentucky coaching changes and CJ Fredrick May 06, 2021
    Show notes

It's Thursday and it's time for an all new Aaron Torres Podcast! Aaron updates his "Way Too Early Top 25" after this spring's transfer portal activity and discusses what the commitment of CJ Fredrick means for Kentucky. Then, he brings on his buddy Jack Pilgrim from KSR to discuss coaching changes at UK, CJ Fredrick and if the Wildcats are ready to bounce back next season.

Updated "Way Too Early Top 25" + CJ Fredrick to Kentucky: Aaron opens the show by updating his "Way Too Early Top 25" (4:30). Aaron released his Top 25 after the season, but after a spring full of transfer portal activity, thought it was time to give a quick update, on who had a successful spring and who is falling. There are several news teams who have made a leap. From there he discusses the commitment of Iowa sharpshooter CJ Fredrick to Kentucky (22:00) why the news is way bigger than people realize, and why the Wildcats are one piece away from actually being really good next season.

KSR's Jack Pilgrim joins the show: Next up, Kentucky basketball insider Jack Pilgrim joins to discuss the state of the Wildcats program (36:30). The interview was done before Fredrick's commitment, but the guys still discuss this week's reported shake-up on the coaching staff (which still isn't official yet) and why it was so important for John Calipari to get this summer's coaching hires right. Also, what will the new staff bring, and will they allow Kentucky to get the swagger back of the early Calipari years? Finally, Jack gives an update as Kentucky pursues a point guard and they briefly discuss the impact Fredrick will have on the team. This is a fun, wide-ranging interview on all things Kentucky hoops that any fan will enjoy.

A FULL recap of the entire first round of the NFL Draft - and is Aaron Rodgers really getting traded? Apr 30, 2021
    Show notes

It's Friday and we've got a special edition of the Aaron Torres Podcast, as Aaron recaps the entire first round of the NFL Draft. Aaron discusses all the picks from Justin Fields to Mac Jones and Trey Lance and even chats a little bit about the Aaron Rodgers situation in Green Bay. Here's a full rundown of the show:

Aaron Rodgers + Justin Fields and Mac Jones: Aaron opens the show by discussing how great it was to see fans back at the draft after last year (2:00), before transitioning to the wild Aaron Rodgers news (6:30). Does Rodgers really want to be traded or just want to embarrass Green Bay and what do both sides do next? From there, Aaron talks about the big draft storylines. He explains why the Bears are now more interesting than they've been in years thanks to the Justin Fields selection (11:00) and why he believes Mac Jones and the Patriots will be a perfect fit (18:00)

He wraps wondering what the heck the 49ers plan is with Trey Lance (22:30), why the Bengals would choose a wide receiver over an offensive lineman (potentially getting Joe Burrow killed in the process) (27:00) and did the Lions actually make a smart draft pick? Finally he wraps with a historic night for Bama and an embarrassing night for the Big 12 - which had zero first round picks total.
