The religious council consisting of the pharisees and sadducees are in an uproar about Paul preaching the Way. They plan to take him out but a young man (Paul's nephew) overhears their plan and reports it to the roman commander. As a roman citizen Paul is taken into their custody even though it is the jewish accusing him and putting him on trial. Paul's faith is unwavering as God appears in the night to encourage him of what he is to do next.

A Letter for Gentile Believers, Book of Acts ch 15! Jan 15, 2022

Paul and Barnabas travel to Jerusalem to attend the Council of Jerusalem and Paul begins his second missionary journey! We see the cultural clash between the jews and the gentiles, and some jewish men trying to inflict their ceremonies of circumcision and teachings onto the gentiles before they come to salvation in Christ. But these things are refuted and corrected and in this letter it is clarified that the men teachings these things, were not sent from them and that we are saved by faith in Christ, not traditions. Amen! So good!!
They are however given three things they ought to stay away from, and by doing so it would be well with them.

Paul is stoned and left for dead, Book of Acts ch 14! Jan 14, 2022

Here in chapter 14, we see the obedience of Paul and Barnabas to Christ outweigh any risks of being rejected, tortured or killed for sharing the Good News to all. They traveled by foot and by boat to reach all the people with the message of salvation through Christ and to strengthen and encourage new believers in their faith. Be encouraged by the example of Paul and Barnabas today as we read ch 14 together.

Notice the strategy the Holy Spirit led Paul and Barnabas in. Notice the way some people reject the good news, and others rejoice. Notice the way when Paul did bold things such as telling the sorcerer about his sin, it says that Paul first was filled with the Holy Spirit. We can learn so much about how to go about the great commission from Jesus by the early apostles and disciples. Notice how everything they did was first an unction from the Holy Spirit! How much more do we need to ask for the Holy Spirit to fulfill the things we have been called to do?

Talk about faith! We are seeing the early disciples of Christ undergoing severe persecution. Herod Agrippa seeks jewish applause by killing Jesus' followers and imprisoning them. But the church continues to grow steadfast and faithful. May we too be a people of radical faith and complete the call on our lives to get the gospel, the Good news of salvation through Christ alone, to the ends of the earth. May we be filled with the Holy Spirit moving in power and miracles and learn from the early church as we go through the book of Acts together!
