Lanterns: Season 1, Episode 6, "Bad Optics" Sep 21, 2026
    Show notes

This week, Da7e and Neil follow the story of Lanternsback into the events of 2026 where there's a murder to solve, a gym teacher to confront, and more mysteries ahead...

In The Calm [04:08], they discuss the oddities at play in the fate of Hal Jordan. They also consider how John's new job and the show's insistence on mentioning Noah play into the potential endgame.

Then in The Storm [01:01:22], your faithful hosts unleash their new theories for the end of season one, the greater impact on the DCU movies, and what it could mean for future seasons.

Next week, it's the penultimate episode of season one of Lanterns and it looks like there will be plenty of flashbacks. Classic Damon Lindelof.

Lanterns: Season 1, Episode 5, "Lights Out" Sep 14, 2026
    Show notes

This week, Da7e and Neil are caught in the darkness cloud of an episode that feels like a season finale, even though they know that Lanternsmust carry on for three-ish more hours.

In The Calm [05:36], they discuss the Very True Detective Thing of doing a midseason action finale. And they say goodbye (probably) to several of their multi-color Lantern theories.

Then in The Storm [48:30], your faithful hosts construct several new theories for what's in store in the final three episodes, at least one of which espouses radical ideology about Manhunter healthcare.

Next week, Lanterns continues with an episode that blips back to the 2026 timeline and promises to bring another familiar face into the fray.

They also dive into how John omitting information in his relationships has become a recurring theme. And they weigh in on the episode's multiple fake-out story and what it could mean going forward.

Then in The Storm [52:30], they learn to not sleep on a hyper-specific member of the greater universe of Lanterns as they ponder how many colors of the spectrum this show is interested in.

Next week, Lanterns drops episode 5 on Sunday night. And the pod returns to break it all down on Monday.

In The Calm [04:58], they assess the show's levels of wokeness. And with the help of numerous emails from listeners, they continue to theorize about the Lanternsrings and the "imperfect system" of choosing candidates.

Then in The Storm [52:20], they attempt to predict how the rest of the season will be paced and whether there is a classic Damon Lindelof show narrative pivot right around the corner.

Next week, Lanterns returns with a fourth episode that gets back to the conversation with Hal and Sinestro and maybe, just maybe, brings in some big action beats.

Lanterns: Season 1, Episode 2, "Trust Fall" Aug 24, 2026
    Show notes

This week, Da7e and Neil are back in Rushville trying to determine who is human, who is extra-terrestrial, and who among any of them can be trusted as Lanternsrolls along.

In The Calm [05:50], your faithful hosts find enjoyment in a Kyle Chandler Side Quest and connect some dots to big names in the ever-expanding DCU story world. The also explain why Mogo isn't a fan of socializing.

Then in The Storm [38:46], it's theory time! Did this episode just introduce a few different kinds of Lanterns? Is there something deeper that makes John Stewart "different"? Theoretical answers are abound.

Next week, more Lanterns! Episode 3 is teasing John Stewart's origin story, which should answer at least a few big questions.

    Show notes

This week, Da7e and Neil have been pulled out of Westeros in a green bubble and asked whether they are afraid of a new Damon Lindelof show. The answer? Absolutely not.

In The Calm [05:10], they break down the pilot episode of Lanterns and highlight its many influences, from True Detective vibes to Fargo vibes to a promise of cosmic shenanigans. They also check in on some familiar tropes like Bad Dads, Time-hopping Mysteries, and Mythology Deconstructions.

Then in The Storm [48:04], your faithful hosts use their knowledge of the comics, the "Weeks Ahead" trailer, and lack of screener access to lay down some theories about where this story will go, including the very important questions around why the show is specifically and simply called "Lanterns" (with no color-based qualifier).

Next week, the Lanterns journey continues with episode two of eight. Will there be aliens? Probably. But more importantly, there will be more Garrett Dillahunt.
