Sinister Sightings - EP384 Aug 27, 2026

Show notes

We’ve got a listener who still thinks about the little boy from her childhood who desperately needed someone to notice what was happening at home, a creepy encounter with a stranger that ends in a full-on RUN FOR YOUR LIFE moment, and a solo backpacking trip where a therapist realizes the man camping nearby might be trying to tell her he’s a sociopath.

Then we head to 1990s Las Vegas for a terrifying childhood encounter that may have been an attempted abduction. And because we need a little paranormal in our lives, two cats staring and growling at the corner of a bedroom can only mean one thing… demon. Right?

True crime stories, creepy strangers, close calls, possible abduction, and some good old-fashioned paranormal panic.

EP 440 - Lauren McCluskey and Third Man Syndrome Aug 24, 2026

Show notes

Kerri dives into the tragic 2018 killing of University of Utah student-athlete Lauren McCluskey, who was murdered by a man she had briefly dated after he lied about his identity and criminal past. The episode examines the warning signs Lauren reported to campus police in the days before her death and the systemic failures that followed, which ultimately led to major reforms in campus safety policy.

Donna explores the eerie phenomenon known as "the Third Man," where people in extreme situations—mountaineers, shipwreck survivors, and disaster victims—report sensing an unseen presence guiding or comforting them. From Shackleton's Antarctic expedition to 9/11 survivors, she unpacks the science and speculation behind this strange, recurring experience of feeling accompanied when utterly alone.

EP 439 - The Devil's Tramping Ground and Walter Collins Aug 17, 2026

Show notes

Donna kicks things off with a trip to the Devil's Tramping Ground in Chatham County, North Carolina—a barren circle in the woods where legend says nothing will grow, animals refuse to enter, and anything left overnight mysteriously vanishes or moves by morning. She digs into the folklore behind the site, from Satan's midnight planning sessions to the eerie scientific explanations researchers have tried (and failed) to pin down.

Then Kerri takes us into one of the most haunting true crime cases of the 1920s: the disappearance of nine-year-old Walter Collins from Los Angeles, and the "Changeling" scandal that followed when police tried to pass off an impostor child as him. She traces the chilling threads connecting Walter's case to the horrifying crimes of Gordon Stewart Northcott, the man behind the Wineville Chicken Coop Murders, and whether Walter may have been one of his victims.

Sinister Sightings - EP382 Aug 13, 2026

Show notes

Y’all sent us some GOOD ones this week! We’ve got a day on the lake that goes very wrong, a giant mystery snake that turns out to have a wild explanation, and a haunted 100-year-old house where something decides to stand at the end of the bed and pretend to be someone it definitely is not.
Then we meet “Ghost Guy,” who may have attached himself to one of our listeners when she was a teenager. We’re talking footsteps around the bed, whispers in the middle of the night, a homemade Ouija board, and then... he just disappears. Where the hell did he go?! Basically, it’s another completely normal Thursday around here.

Show notes

Kerri covers the case of Joy Hibbs. Joy's home was set ablaze to hide the crime and the case went cold for over three decades. It's the story of a family's relentless push for answers, culminating in a 2022 arrest that finally brought her killer to justice
