Take heed, candidates for office and all Americans debating their vote in November: Here we are once more eyeing an election that could chart the course of American democracy going forward.
And as we have since the momentous 2016 and 2022 elections, CITIZENARTS’ newest episode in the A More – or less – Perfect Union series, A More – or less – Perfect Union 2024, shows us just how much ‘We the People’ continue to have some pressing issues on our minds.
This fourth episode of the podcast series tells a story of stunning and continuing change in America’s thinking and attitudes over the last eight years.
For the third time – 2016, 2022, now 2024 – we’ve gathered a cross-section of Americans for a national conversation, bringing together many original participants from the documentary film and prior episodes – also welcoming some new voices. In A More – or less – Perfect Union 2024, we present another in-depth, substantive exploration of some of the issues and events that may matter most to Americans as the election approaches. Is what divides us more entrenched? Is there hope for common ground? Some topics remain priority topics from the past two elections – reproductive rights, climate change. But in 2024, our panelists centered on what was working for them and what wasn’t, including inflation, immigration policy, candidates’ age, how race and gender, and criminal indictments, will impact voters, and more — reflective of how the US has evolved and where people’s priorities lie.
What remains constant is this: the margins in 2024 are close, underscoring the reality that every single vote truly matters. Americans need to vote; Americans better vote.
