Will Green on Sustainability Aug 07, 2022

Show notes

This week Anna is joined by Will Green MA, Executive MBA Programme at the University of Winchester and Sales and Marketing Director of Paleo Ridge. We discuss sustainability in the pet industry, focusing on the model adopted by Paleo Ridge as a raw food firm supplier, setting eco-standards in terms of making feeding raw not only ‘peace of mind for your dog', but also for the planet. In an age where Veganism is being suggested for dogs we discuss why ethical farming is needed to save the planet and maintain the bio-diversity without which the planet cannot thrive. And why of course dogs need to eat meat! Will explains the different aspects in Paleo Ridge’s production that offsets Co2, and why we shouldn’t consider dog ownership as contributing to global warming, but consider the offsets in Co2 that can be achieved simply with the the mantra: reuse, reduce and recycle. And never underestimate a dogs role as man’s best friend, helping to better our physical and mental health.

Kate Bendix Jul 31, 2022

Show notes

This week Anna is joined by Kate Bendix, a friend for over a decade, to discuss worms! Kate runs Worm Counts for Dogs, an online service enabling you to test your dog for worm eggs. We discuss why doing a worm count test four times a year will give you a good insight into how your current wormer is working. It will also allow you to only worm your dog when a worm count test comes back with a positive result. Choose between a worm egg count, a lungworm count or their combo worm and lungworm count tests. Kate explains why there’s also a test for Giardia, and why #TestBeforeTreat is a manta embraced more commonly in the EU.

We chat about diet and why feeding raw helps keep your dog’s immune system healthy and flea and ticks bites minimised. Kate has written books including My Itchy Dog to help pet parents find natural solutions to stop the the itch. Kate also authored the book The Dog Diet and writes for various companies and newspapers.

Dog Friendly Restaurants Jul 10, 2022

Show notes

This week Anna is joined by Martin Williams, the founder of London’s premier steak houses, M Restaurant and Gaucho. He chats about why he wanted to open his restaurant’s doors to dogs at a time when the concept of ‘Dog Friendly’ hadn’t reached the mainstream. Proud of his decision to incorporate special ‘six-leg’ menus and events for dogs and their people to enjoy, the space at the Victoria flagship restaurant lends itself perfectly being so spacious, it can easily accommodate a Christmas party of rover 80 Guide Dogs - just one of many events he’s hosted in aid of charity, and offering great fun for all alike.

He explains why it is not ‘illegal’ to invite dogs into a restaurant, so long as common sense prevails and there’s space to offer those not dog friendly to also feel relaxed. He also chats about his Labradoodle, Hudson, who left his legacy on the restaurant, always remembered through some artworks, and branding as being Martin’s inspiration to be so #DogFriendly. His young Labradoodle, named Wilbur and Mr Binks enjoyed meeting and recording in person too!

Dogs in Yellow Jul 03, 2022

Show notes

This week Anna is joined by Sarah Jones who rescued Bella eight years ago and soon discovered Bella was very nervous and reacted when her space was invaded by other people and dogs. Realising that the majority of dogs display some sort of anxiety, and are reluctant to socialsie with unknown doggies, Sarah devised a range of yellow leads, collars, bandanas jackets in yellow , which is the colour recognised to highlight that your dog needs some space. Understanding that thousands of dogs suffer with being reticent about being approached, Sarah launched #DogsInYellow a dedicated day to celebrate nervous dogs, and celebrate their differences, rather than be misunderstood. So the range of yellow accessories continues to expand. It’s the Yellow army.

Collagen for dogs! Jun 19, 2022

Show notes

This week Anna is joined by Dale Nash from Pawable who chats about a new Collar-gen that’s been launched for dogs. From the makers of a human collagen called So Body Co, the Collar-gen for dogs was inspired as customers would ask if they could give the human brand to their dogs. Being passionate about preventative care, and prolonging longevity, Anna couldn’t wait to find out more about this product, and discuss the benefits of Collagen as a supplement. As a structural protein, it's known for helping joint health, but also as being a structural element of all our cells. It helps with cellular energy, processes, immune responses, cellular communication , and processes for tissue maintenance, especially in the intestinal wall. We chat about why to add collagen to your dog’s diet helps dogs especially those on processed diets, but also allows to know your dog is taking a bio available source of collagen.
