Should Christians Study Other Religions? Oct 12, 2022

Show notes

In this episode, Maddux, Jack and I discuss religion. To be able to sit with them and just understand where they are spiritually/religiously/relationally and just pick their brains was great. If you've been keeping up this season, you've seen them before and you're seeing the development of the relationship. It's so dope to be able to build connections with people that have different beliefs than the ones I hold.
All in all, I believe Christians should be prayerful about learning and studying other religions. To some, it may be beneficial. For some, it might not be. Pray about, evaluate the stability of your relationship with Christ and ask yourself what your motive is for even wanting to learn in the first place.
We shouldn't learn things just for the sake of being able to win arguments. Any study of other religions should be to further understand their points of view in effort to more effectively defend your faith and make disciples of Christ.

Zodiac Signs, Witchcraft, Yoga and Marijuana | A Christian Perspective Sep 14, 2022

Show notes

Send us Fan Mail

In this episode we discuss Yoga, Zodiac Signs, Witchcraft, Occult activity and more! This is part 1, recorded back in May 2022. I've since learned a lot more about these things and will post a part two later. We also discuss:

-How do you understand who God is?

-Are humans God?

-Is smoking marijuana a sin?

Here are a couple related videos:

"20 Types of Witchcraft": https://youtu.be/jdcb1MCNfDc

"Proof That Yoga is Demonic": https://youtu.be/3m-bUEH0dz0

Dangers of New Age: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_qP_97mAVc&t=31s

Here’s some scripture regarding witchcraft, mediums, occult things:

[Leviticus 19:31 NIV] 31 " 'Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God.

[Leviticus 20:6 NIV] 6 " 'I will set my face against anyone who turns to mediums and spiritists to prostitute themselves by following them, and I will cut them off from their people.

[Revelation 21:8 NIV] 8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars--they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."

[Galatians 5:19-21 NIV] 19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

[Isaiah 8:19 NIV] 19 When someone tells you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?

I had the opportunity to talk to a couple of the Islamic faith. This was my first time having an apologetic conversation of this level. This was recorded on May 29, 2022 and since then I've learned more on how to effectively present the Gospel to people of the Islamic belief. I hope you're encouraged to spread the Good News of Jesus to those around you🎈
Overview:

What it means to be a Muslim
What do Muslims believe is the way to salvation
How the views of Christians differ from the views of Muslims
How to talk to people of different faiths in a respectable way
