For the tenth episode of 400 Floor we talk to Matthew Arkel and Aaron David Ross, aka Gatekeeper. Birthed by two college students in Chicago at the beginning of the bloghouse era, they quickly found success with their early Italo inspired productions and over-the-top stage sets, eventually winding up associating with the now legendary label Hippos in Tanks, which released their epoch defining Exo. They recently came back together to play their first live shows in almost a decade at the end of June.

For the ninth episode of 400 Floor we talk to Gabriel Saloman Mindel & Pete Swanson aka Yellow Swans. One of the premier US noise bands of the '00s, they melded the sonic experimentation of noise music with the intensity and DIY ethos of hardcore punk, touring relentlessly and famously always making sure to fit in smaller cities in their route often skipped over by other bands. They play their first show in 15 years on June 16th, headlining the Oblivion Access festival in Austin, TX.

For the fifth episode of 400 Floor we talk to Samara Lubelski & Bill Nace, two veterans of the East Coast underground music scene and old friends who, after years of orbiting around each other, began recently collaborating as a duo. We talk about Samara’s beginnings in the downtown bohemia of Soho in the 1970s through playing in famed groups such as Tower Recordings and Hall of Fame, and Bill’s small town New Jersey upbringing to planting deep roots in the Western Mass experimental music scene where he began long term collaborations with both Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon.

For the fourth episode of 400 Floor we talk to Cory Arcangel and Jacob Ciocci, two old friends and highly influential contemporary artists who took their interest in computers and the kitsch culture of their 1980s childhoods and forged successful careers in the art world, for Jacob particularly through his highly influential collective Paper Rad. The inaugural episode of 400 Floor features Anthony Child and Karl O’Connor, respectively known by their individual monikers Surgeon and Regis. In the early ‘90s they took the blueprint of Detroit techno and melded it with their British industrial and post-punk influences to create a harder edge sound that became the foundation for all European techno to follow. In this interview we dig deep into their history together: from growing up in the Midlands and their introduction to the community that facilitated their friendship to the formation of Karl’s label Downwards and Tony’s early success in the nascent European techno scene of the 1990s.
