Show notes

So we're light on episodes due to some overlapping travel by Mike & Terry but to make sure we had some content for you this week Chuck came over to Mike's place and watched Game 5 of the Cup Finals with Mike and his fiancé Maria - both noted Bruins fans. You can watch as Mike drinks a lot of Miller Lite and curses on referees on our Facebook page. We were going to rip the audio from that and post it here, but you kind of really need to see it and the comments (thanks to everyone who watched along and joined in) to get the full effect. There were also some tech issues off the hop that resulted in multiple attempts to get going. This is just 7 minutes of Mike explaining that. Thanks for checking out Third Man In. Episode 19 - Mystery Guest May 28, 2019

Show notes

There hasn't been an NHL hockey game in like a week but there's still much to talk about in Newfoundland with the ECHL and Nova Scotia with the Memorial Cup and we cover both in Bob Cole Oh Baby! Moment of the Week. Later we get caught up in some of the early trade talks sweeping through the league and talk about No Trade Clauses in Intentional Offsides. Plus an added bonus - TR takes a moment to let us all know that blood costs extra and why. Finally somehow we even end up in Jurassic Park (which is frightening in the dark) by the end of it. All this, and a whole lot more on this week's Third Man In. (And if you're checking things out on YouTube and wondering why there isn't a nifty animated waveform thingy it's because Mike had an early flight and didn't have time to wait for the animation to export.)

Brad Brown - Episode 18 May 22, 2019

Show notes

We're talking about the NHL officiating [again] of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and take a brief trip down memory lane on other controversial Playoff calls (with stops in Dallas and Calgary) and discuss how - or even if - the NHL addresses it. A conversation about whether or not the Bruins are a dynasty leads to a talk about the career progression of Zdeno Chara and age and effectiveness in the NHL. Finally our guest Brad Brown comes out swinging - with his thoughts on fighting in hockey and let's us in on what the difference maker was early on in his NHL career. All that and more on this week's Episode of 3MI

Al Iafrate - Episode 17 May 16, 2019

Show notes

We've mostly recovered from the Heart & Stroke Foundations EPIC Hockey Heroes Weekend and while Chuck is still of reeling from sitting down and chatting with Doug Gilmore, TR & Mike manage to compose themselves to get a full episode recorded and interview slap shot & hair style LEGEND Al Iafrate. The former NHL All Star recounts his unusual path to the NHL going from playing midget to being drafted 4th overall with a stop at the Olympics over a 16 month period. He also talks about why the Heart & Stroke Foundation is so important to him. Having Al on the show also prompts TR to share a story about his first trip to see an NHL game. All that & more on this week's Third Man In. === 3MI is brought to you by HeadCheck Health & Miller Lite. Shop & more at 3mipodcast.com

Episode Delay Explainer May 14, 2019

Show notes

As some of you may know we were at the Heart & Stroke Foundation's Hockey Heroes Weekend in St John's this week and did a pile of live streaming while we were there - but that means we're recovering a bit and don't have a full episode coming today. Mike explains that real quick here, and lets you know that a full episode is coming in a couple days! Stay tuned and apologies for the delay!

Terran Sandwith - Episode 16 May 07, 2019

Show notes

This week we get to catch up with the other "Crazy 8", Terran Sandwith. Like TR, Terran came up through the WHL with the Tri-City Americans as a super prospect, got drafted high, and has 8 games on his stat line in the NHL. Fresh off the Alzheimer's Face Off Pro Am Alumni Tournament in Edmonton, the guys look back on the crazy similarities of their careers before they both found a spot on the St. John's Maple Leafs. Plus, TR drops and epic tale of learning where you stand with the big club, all on this week's 3MI.

BONUS-ISH - Let Chuck Vent About The Leafs Apr 30, 2019

Show notes

Usually when TR heads out of town for something (like this past week when he played with the NHL Alumni for Alzheimer's Face Off Pro Am in Edmonton) Mike & Chuck will record something ridiculous like making Playoff Predictions 2 months out or setting up a dozen Twitter polls about the biggest hockey stories of the season. This week we planned to dissect the Bruins/Leafs series but instead it just turned into Chuck GOING OFF about his opinions in a post-mortem of a disappointing season. (We weren't able to get the usual recording with TR last minute so this will be our episode this week, were already working on getting back to our regular format next week) BUT until then; Tune in to hear a defeated Leafs fan squirm, scream, and maybe even deliver a verse of "Oh Danny Boy" as it turns into a eulogy...fast. And for extra commiseration swing by 3MIPodcast.com and grab one of the Tronna Maple Leaves shirts before we get a Cease & Desist letter from MLSE that Chuck will frame.

Terry Ryan SENIOR - Episode 15 Apr 23, 2019

Show notes

Since it was the holiday weekend and holidays are a time for family we decided it was a perfect time to bring in TR's dad, known to most as Senior. Senior talks about his journey from a small town in central Newfoundland on a breakout bantam squad to jumping on Louis XVI's bed in a billionaire's house. We knew he had stories but there's Senior brings up stuff even Junior didn't know while he holds court in our studio. Sit back and strap in for this one. It's going to be a wild one on this weeks Third Man In. And don't forget all things 3MI, including some sweet merch, are available at our new site 3mipodcast.com!

Sheldon Souray - Episode 14 Apr 16, 2019

Show notes

It's the playoffs! FINALLY We touch on the bigger going-ons around the NHL, Mike, TR, and Chuck each taking turns getting mad at the Kadri cross check, and later we weigh in on a couple of series that find themselves with the under dog being top dog at 3-0. Guest Sheldon Souray brings us his best stories from a long career in the NHL with an added emphasis on the people who helped him not only make it there, but stay there as well. We get in to all that, and make the exciting announcement that we're launching an online shop today that you can check out at 3mipodcast.com! It's all of the hockey chatter, with none of the face crosschecking Settle in for this week's episode of 3MI

BONUS EPISODE Season Review Poll Results Apr 11, 2019

Show notes

Remember how in Tuesday's episode we mentioned wanting to do more episodes but having trouble finding time? Well we were sneaky because we were recording a bonus episode after that.
