Solar Panel Surprise, The Migrant Emergency, Subway's Name Change Game Aug 09, 2023

Show notes

Hillsdale College Radio General Manager and Radio Free Hillsdale Hour Host Scot Bertram is in for Jim today. Join Scot and Greg as they dig into an Italian study showing solar panels generate far more carbon dioxide than natural gas, and that the United Nations never took Chinese statistics into account - even though it produces 80 percent of solar panels. They also sigh as Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey announces a state of emergency due to the number of migrants pouring into her state. But instead of blaming the issue on the Biden administration's porous border or refusal to deport, she chalks it up to the government being too slow to approve work authorization for the migrants. Finally, they end on a lighter note by discussing the promotion from the Subway sandwich chain that will land the winner $50,000 in Subway gift cards in exchange for changing their name to Subway.
Timestamps:
1:12 - New research shows that solar panels produce far more carbon dioxide than natural gas.
7:18 - Massachusetts Gov. Healey announces a state of emergency over the influx of migrants but buries her head in the sand about why it is happening.

Show notes

Ricochet Co-Founder Rob Long is in for Jim. Today, Rob and Greg are glad to see Italy on the brink of rescinding its cooperation with China's aggressive Belt and Road economic agenda. They also react to new polling in Arizona showing the Republicans do worse in the Senate race if Sen. Sinema runs as an independent than in a head-to-head matchup with Democrats. Finally, they react to the heartbreaking testimony of the mother who lost her son in the Kabul airport blast and says all President Biden said to her was that his son "came home in a flag-draped coffin." Abortion & Free Speech, Lockdowns & Job Skills, Gov. Christie & Bon Jovi Aug 07, 2023

Show notes

Hillsdale College Radio General Manager and Radio Free Hillsdale Hour Host Scot Bertram is in for Jim. Today, Scot and Greg are relieved to see a judge strike down an Illinois law calling for the prosecution of pregnancy centers if they deceive or give out "misinformation" to women contemplating abortion. And the law never explains what qualifies as "misinformation." They also shudder at a Wall Street Journal story highlighting how pandemic learning loss contributed to an erosion of very basic skills. So employers are now teaching young employees how to make change and how to look customers in the eye. Finally, they roll their eyes as Chris Christie bestows Ukrainian President Zelensky Jon Bon Jovi's handwritten lyrics to "It's My Life."

Red States Cutting Taxes, Hunter's 'Illusion of Access,' Mysterious Land Grab Aug 01, 2023

Show notes

Join Jim and Greg as they cheer red states for cutting state income taxes and moving towards eliminating them altogether. Then Jim blasts the "epic gaslighting" of Democrats like New York Rep. Dan Goldman for insisting Hunter Biden called his father during business meetings only to say hello and talk about the weather - that Hunter was really only offering the illusion of access to his dad, who was vice-president at the time. Finally, they're unnerved as a mysterious firm pays $800 million to buy 52,000 acres of land near a California military base.
Timestamps:
0:22 - Red states cutting income taxes and pushing to eliminate them.

Bergdahl Conviction Tossed, DOJ's Shady SBF Decision, More Government Censoring Jul 28, 2023

Show notes

Join Jim and Greg as they serve up two bad martinis and a crazy one to end a truly bizarre week in Washington. First, they fume as infamous Army deserter Bowe Bergdahl gets his laughably light conviction thrown out for a very flimsy reason. They also smell a rat as federal prosecutors decide to drop campaign finance fraud charges against FTX Founder Sam Bankman-Fried. Is it really because the Bahamas are playing hardball on extradition or do Democrats want to avoid a lot of embarrassing facts from coming out? Finally, they hammer the Biden administration for demanding Meta (Facebook) remove posts and memes about COVID back in 2021.

Judge Foils Hunter-DOJ Scheme, Mitch's Scary Moment, DeSantis & RFK Jr. Jul 27, 2023

Show notes

Join Jim and Greg as they applaud Judge Maryellen Noreika for exposing the apparent agreement between the Justice Department and Hunter Biden that would have given Biden immunity on further prosecution related to his tax issues and business dealings. They also chronicle Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell being unable to speak on Capitol Hill Wednesday and are frustrated that his office won't say anything beyond McConnell's own insistence that he's "fine." Finally, Jim chides Gov. DeSantis for trying to win over RFK Jr. supporters and likely alienating people who would actually be inclined to vote for him.
Timestamps:
1:18 - The scuttled plea deal between the Justice Department and Hunter Biden stinks. Judge Noreika was right to question it.
8:12 - Sen. McConnell's health scare and his office refusing to elaborate on what happened.
15:36 - Gov. DeSantis suggests he might "sic" RFK Jr. on the FDA or CDC if he's president.
