Harris's Fake Headlines, Kamala's Political Reinvention, Hunter Biden Evidence Emerges Aug 14, 2024
    Show notes

Join Jim and Greg as they offer no good martinis but a whole tray of crazy ones. Today, they react to media reports that Kamala's campaign is doctoring media headlines in online ads, Harris trying to politically reinvent herself as the change candidate in 2024, and the media realizing it's now OK to admit Hunter Biden was up to his eyeballs in shady foreign deals due to his name and access to his dad.
First, they fume at an Axios story explaining that the Harris campaign created fake headlines under the banner of real media outlets like Reuters, USA Today, and CBS News. The reporter who broke the story then immediately tried to downplay it and the media entities involved hardly seem to care.
Next, they roll their eyes at another Axios report explaining how Kamala Harris is jettisoning some of her most far left positions and distancing herself from Joe Biden as part of her sprint to November. She's even trying to position herself as the "change candidate" after four years in the current administration. And why? Because Americans overwhelmingly don't like the direction our country is headed.
Finally, they note multiple headlines noting that Special Counsel David Weiss and the State Department's own records reveal evidence of Hunter Biden influence peddling overseas - in one case he was paid to directly lobby for Romania while Joe Biden was vice president. Jim wants to know where to go for his award on being right about this story, President Biden's decline, and so many other stories initially branded as misinformation...until they could no longer be denied.

Dem Debate Narrative vs. Facts, Media is a Laughingstock, The Grift Goes On Aug 13, 2024
    Show notes

Join Jim and Greg as they applaud Fox News anchor Bret Baier for easily blowing up the Democrats' ridiculous narrative about debates, enjoy watching a studio audience laugh at the idea of CNN being objective but highlight the disturbing truth beneath it, and they document the ongoing hall-of-fame level grift perpetrated by the Lincoln Project.
First, they react to Bret Baier immediately shredding the weak argument from New York Rep, Dan Goldman that Donald Trump is afraid to debate Kamala Harris - and pointing out that Harris is the one refusing to commit to debates right now.
Next, they get a kick out of the audience at "The Late Show" getting a good laugh out Stephen Colbert suggesting that CNN is "objective" and just "report the news as it is" - in front of a CNN anchor. Jim and Greg break down how just the few weeks are ample proof of how most media are purely activists these days, how politics have ruined late night TV and more.
Finally, they reflect on the latest financial statement from the #NeverConservatives at The Lincoln Project, showing it spends more than 90 percent of its money on "overhead" and a lot of that money just ends up in separate "media" entities run by current Lincoln project figures and their allies. And all donors ever get for their money is amateurish videos that have no impact on any elections.

Virginia & the Voter Rolls, Kamala's Dodging & A Compliant Media, Walz & His Mom Aug 12, 2024
    Show notes

Jim Geraghty is back after a much-deserved vacation and weathering the remnants of Hurricane Debby. Join Jim and Greg as they cheer Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin and his team for their due diligence in preparing for the elections, scold the AP and other media for allowing Kamala Harris to dodge serious questions for three weeks and counting, and slamming Tim Walz for forcing his own 87-year-old mom to isolate after heart surgery during Covid.
First, they applaud Virginia for doing what Jim calls the "basic blocking and tacking of government" and making sure the commonwealth's voter rolls are up to date. In doing so, officials found 80,000 dead people still eligible to vote along with more than 6,300 non-citizens. This shouldn't be that hard to update. So why isn't every state doing it?
Next, they shake their heads as the media are still pandering to Kamala Harris and only offering the softest criticism for her refusal to take serious questions for more than three weeks since President Biden ended his campaign. Even worse, media outlets like the Associated Press are running stories downplaying the importance of candidates engaging in sit-down interviews.
Finally, they shudder at video from the pandemic in which Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz says he made his 87-year-old mother live alone right after heart surgery because he feared negative headlines if his mom came to live with him. So instead of amending his own draconian stay-at-home orders to help his mom and to allow anyone to care for a loved one who needed assistance, he decided enforcing the shutdown orders were more important.

UK Criminalizes Speech, CNN's Ugly Walz Defense, Politico's Pathetic Pandering Aug 09, 2024
    Show notes

Undisputed King of Stuff and Discourse Magazine and Arizona Republic columnist Jon Gabriel is in for Jim. Today, Jon and Greg offer brief thoughts on the 50th anniversary of President Nixon's resignation. Then they hammer the British government for criminalizing free speech, take CNN to task for minimizing JD Vance's service in defense of Tim Walz, and get a good laugh at just how far Politico will go to carry water for the left.
First, they unload on officials in the UK who threaten to arrest anyone for making or repeating a social media post they deem offensive or could lead to violence. And they have many police officers who spend all day scouring social media looking for offenders.
Next, they scold CNN's Brianna Keilar for suggesting that Sen. Vance is an inperfect messenger to criticize Gov. Walz's service because while Vance's official title in Iraq was "combat correspondent." It's an argument concocted simply to deflect the mounting criticism of Walz.
Finally, they get a kick out of Politico's fevered efforts to boost Democrats and criticize Republicans. They point to one story fawning over how well Walz looks in casual wear and other one that compares Trump to Mussolini because they both survived assassination attempts.

Walz's Military Service, Walz vs. Free Speech, Judge Rules Google a 'Monopolist' Aug 08, 2024
    Show notes

Inez Stepman of the Independent Women's Forum and host of the "High Noon" podcast is in for Jim. Today, Inez and Greg discuss the controversy over Gov. Tim Walz's military service, his problem with free speech, and a federal judge ruling that Google is a "monopolist."
First, they dig into the back-and-forth between Gov. Walz and Sen. JD Vance over Vance's life story, whether Walz retired from the Army National Guard to avoid going to Iraq, and Walz's documented comments about "weapons of war that I carried in war." Will this be a lingering issue in the campaign? Inez says this alone might not be a huge problem long term for Harris-Walz but additional stories that raise doubts about his veracity might be a different story.
They also highlight a comment Walz made years ago saying, "There's no guarantee to free speech on misinformation and hate speech, and especially around our democracy." Inez points out there is no constitutional basis for that position. And while the goal of free speech is to seek and find the truth, she says the Bill of Rights protects speech that is factually incorrect.
Finally, they highlight this week's federal court ruling siding with the Justice Department's argument that Google is a "monopolist" in terms of how it forces its products on others. And while Inez and Greg are always wary of the government injecting itself into the market, they also see a clear ideological monopoly showing up in Google search results.

Walz & the Fawning Media, Walz's COVID Snitch Line, Plastic Bag Ban 'Do Over' Aug 07, 2024
    Show notes

Hillsdale College Radio General Manager and Radio Free Hillsdale Hour Host Scot Bertram is in for Jim. Today, after a quick update on baseball and another member of "The Squad" losing to a fellow Democrat, Scot and Greg groan over the media's predictable infatuation with Tim Walz, detail just how draconian Walz was in his COVID lockdown enforcement, and how California's plastic bag ban led to way more plastic bag trash.
First, they roll their eyes as the mainstream media not only carry the Democrats' narrative on Tim Walz but they all immediately start using the term "folksy" to describe him. The shameless obedience to the left's talking points is hardly a surprise but the contrast with how reporters characterized JD Vance a few weeks ago is rather stark.
Next, they dig into just how authoritarian Gov. Walz was in Minnesota during his aggressive COVID lockdowns - including how his government set up a snitch line so that people throughout the state could rat out their neighbors for such reckless behavior as walking their dog, playing basketball, and trying the keep their business open.
Finally, they get a kick out of lefties in California wanting a "do over" on a plastic bag ban after the first one led to a massive increase in the amount of plastic bags in the trash.

Harris Picks Walz, Why Markets Are Volatile, Why You Shouldn't Panic Aug 06, 2024
    Show notes

Brian Wesbury, Chief Economist at First Trust LP and the former Chief Economist for the Joint Economic Committee of Congress, is in for Jim. Today, Brian and Greg dissect Kamala Harris choosing Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate and why it may be a gift to the GOP. Brian also explains why the markets are in turmoil right now, why you shouldn't panic, and more.
First, they respond to the breaking news that Harris-Walz will be the ticket for Democrats in 2024. They explain why this is the furthest left ticket in recent memory and why it gives Donald Trump and JD Vance ample opportunities to expose how far out of the mainstream Harris and Walz really are. And they discuss the Walz record in Minnesota - from his disastrous handling of the 2020 riots to his far left economic and social positions.
Next, Brian goes through the factors leading to the major volatility in world markets over the past several days. He says we are largely paying the price for terrible policies enacted during the Covid pandemic and he says the "morphine" is finally wearing off. But there are other important factors as well, and Brian tells us why he thinks the U.S. is headed into a recession but nothing close to a 2008-level crisis.
Finally, Brian explains why investors should not panic during this turmoil and what the smartest government response would be.

The Markets & the Candidates, Debates Over Debates, Biden on Mt. Rushmore? Aug 05, 2024
    Show notes

Hillsdale College Radio General Manager and Radio Free Hillsdale Hour Host Scot Bertram is in for Jim. Today, Scot and Greg tackle a comprehensive new CBS News poll that may give us some insights into which candidate Americans will trust more if the economy is about to sour in a significant way. They also dissect the Trump-Harris spat over when and where to debate, and they roll their eyes as Nancy Pelosi suggests that President Biden belongs on Mount Rushmore.
First, they note the plunging markets worldwide and the various factors that seem to be playing into it. Then they dive into a new CBS News/YouGov poll examining what impact voters think Trump and Harris would have on their personal finances, the border, and much more.
Then, they dive into the back-and-forth between Trump and Harris as they fight over the terms of any upcoming debates. Trump says he's agreed to one with Fox News and is not going to appear at the second debate he originally scheduled with Joe Biden. Harris accuses Trump of running scared and won't do the Fox News event. So as of now, there is no debate scheduled. Will that change and who stands to benefit most by having at least one?
Finally, they laugh as Nancy Pelosi tells CBS Sunday Morning that Joe Biden's "consequential" presidency merits his addition to Mount Rushmore. They explain how the American people already rendered a clear verdict on Biden's time and how Pelosi is furiously trying to remove her fingerprints from the successful campaign to end Biden's re-election campaign.

Shapiro & the Veepstakes, Sluggish July Jobs Report, Kamala Off Script Aug 02, 2024
    Show notes

Hillsdale College Radio General Manager and Radio Free Hillsdale Hour Host Scot Bertram is in for Jim today. After a brief update on the prisoner swap with Russia, Scot and Greg discuss the final jockeying among Democrats to be the vice presidential nominee, July's worse-than-expected unemployment report, and Kamala flubbing her first unscripted moment in weeks.
First, they examine the state of the Democrats' veepstakes, including some last-minute efforts to pour cold water on the possibility of Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro joining the Harris ticket. They also comment on how aggressively some figures are campaigning for the job when historically they have downplayed any interest.
Next, they wince as the July unemployment report shows significantly fewer jobs created than expected last month, plus an uptick in the jobless rate and the number of Americans unemployed overall. Is this evidence of a possible recession on the horizon or just a one-month anomaly?
Finally, they react to Vice President Harris finally having an unscripted moment on camera. And even with the softest of questions, her typical word salad was back. Scot says Harris would never have survived a full primary campaign and he marvels at the fawning coverage over her campaign despite the fact she's done absolutely nothing of note in the past two weeks, other than raise money.

How Haniyeh Was Killed, Russia Prisoner Swap, 9/11 Plea Deal, Trump Fumbles on Race Aug 01, 2024
    Show notes

It's four martinis for the price of three today as Jim and Greg unpack the latest details in the killing of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, the prisoner swap with Russia that freed two Americans, the government striking a plea bargain with 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, and Donald Trump focusing on Kamala's race instead of her train wreck of a record.
First, they enjoy learning how Haniyeh was killed by a bomb planted months earlier and detonated remotely. It seems to point more clearly to an Israeli operation and a massive, embarrassing failure for the Iranian government and especially its terrorist arm, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Next, they're thrilled to hear Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich and fellow American Paul Whelan are being released by Russia. What reports don't tell us yet is who or what the U.S. is giving Russia in return. And given the Obama-Biden track record on lopsided prisoner swaps, that's an important question.
Then, they groan as the U.S. government strikes a plea deal with Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and two other 9/11 conspirators. The agreement removes the possibility of capital punishment for any of them. 9/11 survivors and family members are not happy. And while Jim and Greg understand there's a slight possibility of these terrorists revealing more than they already have, it's hard to imagine anyone more deserving of death then they are.
Finally, Jim unloads on Donald Trump for wondering when Kamala Harris decided she was black because he says she spent much of her life identifying with her Indian heritage. Not only does that moment give Harris a chance to go on offense, but it shows Trump getting distracted from going after the endless political liabilities Harris brings into this campaign.
