This week on Court Report, we’re covering a packed slate of trials, new developments, and cases taking some unexpected turns.

And in Juror Notes: major updates in the cases of Lindsay Clancy, Barry Morphew, Adam Montgomery, and Nick Reiner — including a significant decision from prosecutors about the punishment Reiner could face if convicted.

Plus, more cases and courtroom headlines you’ll want on your radar.

It’s another packed week in true crime — let’s get into it.

When Psychosis Goes on Trial: Andrea Yates & Lindsay Clancy Comparison Sep 17, 2026
    Show notes

Andrea Yates and Lindsay Clancy — two mothers, two tragedies, and two cases separated by more than two decades that raised many of the same difficult questions.

In this episode, we take a deeper look at Andrea Yates: the years of severe mental illness leading up to the deaths of her five children, what happened during her two trials, and why her case was compared so often to Lindsay Clancy.

James “Buddy” Day from UNMARKED: A True Crime Podcast joins me throughout the episode to discuss psychosis, intent, the insanity defense, and the challenge of applying a yes-or-no legal system to the complexities of the human mind.

The cases are not the same — but understanding where they overlap, and where they don’t, may help us understand why the questions they raise remain so difficult more than 25 years later.

As always, I'll lay out the evidence so you can be the 13th Juror and decide for yourself.

Lindsay Clancy: After the Mistrial | A Conversation with James “Buddy” Day Sep 16, 2026
    Show notes

The Lindsay Clancy trial ended in a mistrial — but the conversation surrounding this case is far from over.

In this bonus episode, Brandi sits down with James “Buddy” Day, creator and host of Unmarked, for a conversation about the verdict, the jury’s deliberations, and the complicated intersection of mental illness and criminal responsibility.

This is also the first of several upcoming collaborations with Buddy. Next up: a deeper look at the Andrea Yates case, why it was compared so often to Lindsay Clancy, and where those comparisons do — and don’t — hold up.

    This week on Court Report:

A breakthrough more than 40 years in the making in the Texas Killing Fields — and a jury that needed less than an hour to make its decision.

A former NFL scout learns his fate in a case involving a poisoned drink.

A massive DNA scandal raises questions about more than a thousand criminal cases.

Plus — an Egyptian media personality facing the ultimate punishment, a Grammy-winning rapper waiting on a federal jury, serious charges involving the teenage son of two reality-TV stars, and a surprising new development for the Menendez brothers.

Then in Juror Notes: new trouble for Barry Morphew, Alex Murdaugh finally learns where he'll face a jury again, and Mario Fernandez Saldana wants another shot at his case.

And finally, 25 years later, we take a moment to remember September 11.

    MA v Lindsay Clancy, Part 7 Sep 10, 2026
    Show notes

Just when we thought the Lindsay Clancy series was over, the trial’s final day brought a stunning mistrial, a last-minute appeal to Massachusetts’ highest court, and a courtroom battle unlike anything we’ve seen before.

Now, jurors are speaking out about what happened behind closed doors—including the evidence that changed their minds, the lone holdout, and why eleven of them believed Lindsay was not criminally responsible.

Plus, both sides look ahead as the defense prepares its next legal fight.

As always, I'll lay out the evidence so you can be the 13th Juror and decide for yourself.

THE LINDSAY CLANCY TRIAL: CLOSING ARGUMENTS & A JURY DIVIDED

After weeks of testimony, the Lindsay Clancy trial is finally in the hands of the jury.

In this episode, we break down the closing arguments from both sides — the defense’s claim that Lindsay was suffering from postpartum psychosis and the prosecution’s argument that her actions show she knew exactly what she was doing.

We’ll cover the defense’s “three quarters” demonstration, the prosecution’s response, the final battle over Lindsay’s mental state, and the instructions jurors were given to decide criminal responsibility.

Then, we follow the deliberations as the jury struggles to reach a unanimous decision — including multiple notes to the judge and the revelation that one juror may be standing between this case and a verdict.

After everything we’ve heard, can twelve jurors agree on what was happening in Lindsay Clancy’s mind on January 24, 2023?

    COURT REPORT: 9.3.26 Sep 03, 2026
    Show notes

This week on Court Report, we’ve got two major verdicts — including a long-awaited decision in one of the most infamous murders in music history.

Nearly 30 years after Tupac Shakur was killed, a Las Vegas jury has finally decided the fate of Duane “Keffe D” Davis.

Then, we’re going back ten years to the disappearance of 19-year-old Morgan Bauer. For more than seven years, her family searched for answers — until an unexpected break finally led investigators to her remains and two people accused of her murder.

Plus, Barry Morphew is back in the headlines while awaiting trial for the murder of his wife, Suzanne — and this time it has nothing to do with the murder case itself. An alleged hit-and-run caught on camera got the attention of the judge overseeing his case and resulted in some much stricter bond conditions.

    And in Juror Notes:

    • Bryan Kohberger adds another attorney to his new legal team — and that attorney is hinting there may be much more coming in the fight to undo Kohberger’s guilty plea.

    • Tyler Robinson takes another step toward trial in the murder of Charlie Kirk.

    • There’s a surprising change at the defense table in the D4vd case — and Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s family has some questions about it.

    • Another setback for Mackenzie Shirilla as she continues challenging her convictions following renewed attention from Netflix’s The Crash.

    • And we’ll look ahead to an important sentencing decision coming next week in the Blaise Taylor case.

Finally, after more than five weeks of testimony and an extraordinarily long verdict watch, the Lindsay Clancy trial is nearing its end. The final episode of our 13th Juror Lindsay Clancy series will be out as soon as we officially know how this trial ends.

And then, by popular demand, we’re heading to Florida.

The next case on 13th Juror: the trial of Mario Fernandez Saldana for the murder of Jared Bridegan.

    COURT REPORT: 8.29.26 Aug 29, 2026
    Show notes

This week’s Court Report is packed with verdicts, plea deals, courtroom twists, and some very unexpected developments in cases we’ve been following for months.

A former college cheerleader admits what really happened to her newborn after initially telling investigators a very different story.

We finally have a verdict in the Jared Bridegan murder-for-hire case — but almost immediately afterward, a shocking new allegation throws the next trial into uncertainty.

Karmelo Anthony’s new defense team gets an answer on their fight for a new trial, while Bryan Kohberger launches a new battle over the guilty plea that was supposed to bring his case to an end.

And because apparently the Murdaugh case will never stop giving us updates, we have TWO this week — including a bold courtroom claim about Alex Murdaugh passing a polygraph “with flying colors” that prompted prosecutors to file a correction with the court…and ultimately forced his own attorney to admit he got it wrong.

Plus, Buster Murdaugh gets a significant ruling in his defamation lawsuit, an American Idol alum accused of murdering his wife loses a pretrial fight, and the first-ever murder trial in Tupac Shakur’s death is heading toward the jury.

And finally, in Juror Notes, we’ll check in on a few cases we’re watching — including Lindsay Clancy, whose fate is now officially in the hands of the jury.

All of that and more in this week’s Court Report.

    MA v Lindsay Clancy, Part 5 Aug 26, 2026
    Show notes

Four experts. Much of the same evidence. Very different conclusions.

As the Lindsay Clancy trial moves toward closing arguments, we're breaking down the testimony that could ultimately determine the verdict: Was Lindsay Clancy criminally responsible for the deaths of her children?

In this episode, we look at the defense's final witnesses, including Dr. Phillip Resnick, before putting his conclusions side-by-side with the Commonwealth's rebuttal experts—Dr. Avram Mack, Dr. Kirk Heilbrun, and Dr. Gregory Saathoff.

We break down where the experts surprisingly agree, where their opinions sharply diverge, and how the same evidence led them to completely different conclusions about Lindsay's diagnosis, psychosis, the reported command hallucination, and ultimately criminal responsibility.

And now that all of the testimony is in, we take a bigger look at the Commonwealth's case: Does the theory prosecutors presented in opening statements still fit the evidence that actually came out at trial? And most importantly, have they proven Lindsay's criminal responsibility beyond a reasonable doubt?

As always, I'll lay out the evidence so you can be the 13th Juror and decide for yourself.

    COURT REPORT: 8.21.26 Aug 20, 2026
    Show notes

This week on Court Report, we’re catching up on a packed week of major developments in cases we’ve been following.

A familiar name is back in court as the fight over a high-profile retrial heats up, while Luigi Mangione makes a major decision in his federal case. We also have an update in the Jared Bridegan murder case as another defendant heads to trial—and new developments in a case we’ve been following close to home.

Plus, nearly 30 years after Tupac Shakur was killed, a jury is finally hearing the case against Keffe D—and some of the testimony is already getting wild.

We’ll also talk about a convicted teenager whose trial judge has now been removed from his case, surprising evidence the original jury never heard, and several quick Juror Notes involving appeals, sentencing, upcoming trials, and one jury that may actually have to come back to court and explain its verdict.

A lot happened this week. Let’s get into it.
