S1 Ep33: Stepmom Murder: Letecia Stauch (Finale) Feb 11, 2025

Part 7: The Defense
The case against Letecia has been presented, and now it's time for the jury to hear the defense. There are two doctors who testify, including one high profile doctor who causes a HUGE stir in this case. The jury will watch clips of Letecia's interviews with the doctor, including one clip where Letecia turns into her other personality, Maria Sanchez, and describes what happened to Gannon.
In January of 2020 11-year-old Gannon Stauch is reported missing by his stepmother Letecia in Colorado Springs, CO, sparking a massive search effort involving volunteers, as well as multiple law enforcement agencies. As the community searches for signs of the missing child, police, and Gannon's father Al, turn their attention to the bizarre behavior of stepmom Letecia, who was the last person to see him alive.
As the investigation heats up, Letecia hits the road in a rental van, driving cross country with her teenage daughter to start a new life. Letecia is arrested on March 2, 2020, in Myrtle Beach, SC and charged with Gannon's death. On March 17th, maintenance workers find Gannon's remains in a suitcase under a bridge near Pensacola, FL- more than 1,300 miles away from his home.
Letecia begins to tell story after story- each more outrageous than the last. Letecia blames anyone and everyone- from the drug cartel to neighborhood workers, to sex traffickers- before finally pleading not guilty by reason of insanity. The trial, which lasted 5 weeks, began in April of 2023, and each witness brought out wild new details that made the story even more unbelievable.
In this seven-part series, we will walk through the background of this blended family, the search for Gannon, what happened when Letecia went on the run, her eventual arrest, and the bizarre trial that lit social media on fire.

Part 3: Ripping the Wings off an Angel
After Murdock takes the stand to tell his story, he is then opened up to a fiery cross examination. We hear from Lisa's family and Sanda, and also from Murdock's older sister. Then, Murdock takes the stand AGAIN- And this time, the cross examination turns into a shouting match where the judge steps in.

Best friends Lisa Bunce and Sanda Andrews were sitting on the front porch of Sanda's Florida home after a night out when 60 year old David Murdock pulled up and opened fire. Murdock shot Sanda once in the face, and shot Lisa a total of three times. He then walked outside, called 911, gave them the address, and told them he was sorry, he "had to get rid of the devil".
56 year old Lisa Bunce tragically lost her life that night, but Sanda- her best friend- survived to testify against Murdock.
It took more than 5 eventful years for this case to make it to a jury. During trial, Sanda gives emotional testimony and explains what happened that night. Then, Murdock shocks everyone when he takes the stand- and his defense, is NOT what I was expecting.
