Scott Lee, founder of NEMHF and manager Jul 26, 2023

Show notes

Very excited to welcome back my friend, Scott Lee to the program. He's a music biz veteran and one of the founders of the recently re-launched, New England Metal and Hardcore Festival...which is why he is on today. We discuss why the festival is back, music industry musings and the intersection of metal and hardcore. I love his perspective and sweet nature as a human. I don't welcome many people back to the pod in short order, but Scott was an exception. Make sure to check out the stacked lineup of the festival and come out to hang!

Steven Andrew Miller from Unbroken, Kill Holiday Jul 19, 2023

Show notes

In celebration of their impending "reunion" (since they have been doing shows off/on the past 10 or so years), I had to bring my friend Steven Andrew Miller from Unbroken on the podcast. This was a long time coming as we attempted to do this when he lived in California but now we get to dive deep into San Diego hardcore, legacy and happy accidents. Also, I finally get the answer to how much it cost to record "Life.Love.Regret" (spoiler alert, not very much). A great discussion so kick back and enjoy!

Grady Avenell & Jeff Irwin from Will Haven Jul 12, 2023

Show notes

We are lucky to be bringing you not just ONE human from a band, but TWO this week. First up we have Jeff Irwin, the guitarist from long standing metal/hardcore heroes Will Haven. Then, to top it off we have Grady Avenell, the vocalist of the band. The love runs deep within the band and the fact they are releasing their SEVENTH full length is a testament to it. We discuss Sacramento hardcore, being a-political and life outside of the band. Bang your head.

Sean Leary from Loma Prieta and Jeromes Dream Jul 05, 2023

Show notes

Holy screamo episode! We have the dude behind bands like Loma Prieta and Jeromes Dream, Sean Leary. He plays guitar in both bands and has been in/around that particular scene for many years so I was happy to invite him on and pick his brain. We discuss what it's like being an only child, the amazingness of a band like Shotmaker and his career in photography.

Raygun Busch from Chat Pile Jun 07, 2023

Show notes

I don't think I have been more floored by a band in recent memory than I was with Chat Pile and their LP "God's Country" as it combined all of the elements of experimental metal/punk/hardcore in a perfect stew of discontent. Raygun Busch is the vocalist of the Oklahoma City band and we discussed his passion for film, his involvement in drama and debate in high school and supporting your local scene. Get to know him and his band if you don't already!
