Victor Bastidas Rodriguez is a drummer and composer from Bogota Colombia, who has studied graduate and undergraduate programs in Miami and Chicago respectively with the highest degrees of scholarships and fellowships, who has played with Jazz legends such as Michael Brecker, Paquito De Rivera, Arturo Sandoval, Steve Cardenas, Roy Assaf, Fabian Almazan, Alex Norris, Sam Barsh among many.
这次表演的音乐项目是他在芝加哥期间创建的，将他所熟悉的三个不同领域融合在一起，即来自于他的母国哥伦比亚的民间音乐，现代和传统的室内乐，以及他自己的爵士乐和Be Bop音乐语汇。
He developed this project while in Chicago, embracing the three worlds common to him and his Musical Language, the folk music from his Native Colombia, The world of contemporary and classical chamber music, and the language of Jazz and Be Bop.

The first record with this ambitious project was recorded in Chicago , and involved De Paises Project Jazz Quintet, and the New Chicago String Quartet alongside very special guests, it was recorded in the cities of Chicago, Beijing, New York and Bogota. Tales of a Latino American Traveler, narrating the tales and stories of his multiple trips and encounters surrounding different countries, special guests such as Count Basie Band Pianist Reggie Thomas, NY Saxophonist, Adam Larson, Kurt Elling bassist Clark Somers, as well as folk singers from Colombia and Beijing, portrait a very interesting landscape for this musical journey.
现在，Universal 环球爵士五重奏将新的内容呈现在即将发表的新唱片“Somos Gente” (中文：我们是人)中，会和环球弦乐四重奏一起在北京录制。这个已经进行两年的音乐合作项目非常高产， 为北京的音乐场景注入了新的力量和审美。这次演出还有非常有意思的全新合作，来自古巴的特邀歌手劳拉将加入这个项目，出现在之后他们在中国各地的音乐会中。
Now , Universal is presenting new material for their upcoming record “Somos Gente” that will be recorded in Beijing along with the Universal string Quartet, a Two year collaboration project that has been very productive and has created a new force and aesthetic within the Beijing music landscape. Very interesting new collaborations, including guest singer Laura from Cuba will be accompanying the project in their upcoming concerts in China.
