The African American Trailblazers program annually honors the African American contribution to the American story and the significant accomplishments of twelve heroic African Americans in areas such as the arts, sciences, politics, education, and business. African American Trailblazers was conceived as part of America’s 400th anniversary celebration. These documentary vignettes represent the collaborative effort of several community, regional government, and corporate partners to highlight the historic contributions of African Americans that positively changed the commonwealth, our country, and the world. Emmy Award winner and producer Eric A. Futterman directed the vignettes. They tell the stories of twelve historic African American Trailblazers and describe other notable achievements since the first Africans arrived in Jamestown in 1619.
Cultures of Energy brings writers, artists and scholars together to talk, think and feel their way into the Anthropocene. We cover serious issues like climate change, species extinction and energy transition. But we also try to confront seemingly huge and insurmountable problems with insight, creativity and laughter.
We believe in the possibility of personal and cultural change. And we believe that the arts and humanities can help guide us toward a more sustainable future.
Cultures of Energy is a Mingomena Media production. Co-hosts are @DominicBoyer and @CymeneHowe
