Join us for a weekly podcast in which pastor and scholar Suzy Silk helps listeners to discover the Messiah in all of Scripture. Together we will take hold of the promise that every Scripture testifies to Jesus (Lk 24:27, Jn 5:39) and is written for our edification (2 Tim 3:16).
Suzy Silk is a pastor, teacher, and scholar with a passion for God’s Word and the Jewish roots of the Christian faith.
Suzy completed an MA in Bible & Ancient Semitic Languages from Jewish Theological Seminary, and originally learned Hebrew while living in northern Israel a number of years ago. Being single isn’t easy. Finding joy in it isn’t either. It’s easy to feel like you’ve been left behind, or overlooked. Speaking from experience, singleness is one of the most difficult, yet unappreciated season in life. What is God’s purpose in this? What should I be doing with my singleness? How can I maximize this season of life I have been loathing for quite some time now? We’re going to tackle these questions and more. You’re not the only one with these struggles, and we’ll be meeting people who have felt the same way, but have found ways to hand their fears and desires to God and followed the adventures He laid out for them. Everybody’s journey is unique, and there may only be a few episodes you can find ways relate to. This podcast isn’t going to provide a magic formula, but only God can lead you and speak to you if you open your heart and allow Him to go to work. Join us every episode to find wisdom and inspiration on how you can find joy, purpose, and adventure in this season of life. When you get to the point of letting go and handing it to God, with an absurd amount of confidence that His plan is the best plan, you’d better hold on tight, because it’s going to be an exciting, wild ride.Seize the day.Maximize every chapter in your life.
Who wrote the Nicene Creed? Why did the estimated 300 bishops present at the Council of Nicaea use terms such as “Light of Light… consubstantial… proceeding…” and more to describe God? Is the creed even intelligible to us today in the same sense its early proponents understood it? Does the Nicene Creed have anything constructive to contribute to our context today, to those disillusioned with traditional forms of religion, or those merely interested in spirituality?
In Passages: Nicaea, Joshua Heavin and Caleb Wait give an overview of the Council of Nicaea while grappling with its caricatures and criticisms.
