THE FIRST 50 GIGS: Guns N’ Roses and the Making of Appetite for Destruction is a video podcast that transports you to mid-1980 Hollywood for a serialized, play-by-play origin story of the rise of Guns N’ Roses and their time on the Sunset Strip.

The computer music movement of the 1960’s, 70s and 80’s created the technology that established the sound of music as we know it today. We unearth the stories behind that movement, as well as some trippy music that demonstrates how music grew into the electronic sounds we take for granted now. In Season 2, we take a deep dive into the music of Stanley Jordan, a jazz master who combines musical virtuosity with a lifelong love of the technology. In Season 1, we told the story of a group of music-loving computer engineers who happened upon some musicians who were enamored with a new IBM computer at the Engineering Quadrangle at Princeton University in 1963.

Hosted by renowned MC and founding father of hip hop Grandmaster Caz, A&E’s Origins of Hip-Hop reveals the true stories of the people and places that ignited a global culture. Each episode, Caz sits down with hip hop legends like Busy Bee, Grand Wizzard Theodore, and Sha Rock to hear how it all happened straight from the source. From the legendary OJ Car Service bumping the first “mixtapes” to hip hop as therapy for the people of The Bronx, Caz and his guests uncover the lesser-told stories that made hip hop what it is today. These are their stories and the stories to be told for generations.
