Standoff

Standoff follows Fred Gómez Carrasco, a drug cartel kingpin and orchestrator of the 1974 Huntsville, Texas, prison siege. The siege was one of the most infamous hostage crises in American history and played out in dramatic fashion over eleven days, all in front of a terrified national audience. One hundred hours of audio containing the actual hostage negotiations and the deadly shoot-out tell the story like never before.

“Journalist Wes Ferguson… weaves a fascinating yarn using new interviews as well as unearthed tapes of Carrasco’s hostage-negotiation calls. What emerges is a big bold look at a little-known crime story.” – Vulture

Standoff is a production of Imperative Entertainment and is written, created and hosted by Wes Ferguson. Executive Producer and Story Editor is Jason Hoch. Audio editing and sound engineering by Shaine Freeman and Jason Hoch. Original music is by Max Baca with Flaco Jiménez on accordion and Tony Gonzalez is the music engineer for the original score. The main theme ‘Huntsville’ is performed by Ray Benson and is from the 1971 Merle Haggard and the Strangers Album, ‘Someday We’ll Look Back’.

The American Social Fabric

American political discourse is broken. We all know it. This podcast is an attempt to rediscover those core American values that we all already agree on, and to create a base level of trust among Americans. Americans need to realize that while we may disagree on the implementation of our principles, we are all still starting from the same core principles laid down by the Founding Fathers.

Oy Vey L.A.

“I have lived here my entire life. I have never seen this city so dirty, so rudderless. Homeless everywhere, crime going up, and there just seems to be a lack of urgency, a lack of any kind of all-hands-on-deck approach to these crises.” – former mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, October 2021

We all want a better, more livable Los Angeles. But what does that mean, exactly? And how do we get there? Join Josh Gertler and Chris Joseph – two native Angelenos – on our new podcast “Oy Vey L.A.” as we interview informed citizens, politicians (and wanna’ be politicians), as well as thought leaders and in-touch members of the local media. We’ll take you on a journey discussing such subjects as local politics, livability issues, housing (affordable and otherwise), and local corruption, a journey that will hopefully illuminate, stimulate and provoke thoughts and solutions.
