Small Town Forgotten

Small Town Forgotten is an investigative true crime podcast and documentary film; hosted by newcomer and local developer, Chris Hulsey, and directed by Portland/Los Angeles film and theatre producer, Shawn Lee Martin. This season focuses on a very personal cold case. Both Chris and Shawn were born and raised in Bonne Terre, MO, where the murder happened. In fact, many of the multi-generational Martin family built their lives in Bonne Terre. Grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins regularly gathered for 4th of July picnics, Christmas parties, Sundays after church and just about any excuse to get together. This close knit family was devastated by Jimmie Wade's tragic death. On October 13th, 1989 there were dozens of witnesses, a murder weapon, and a taped confession yet no one was convicted. How did it become a cold case? Why has there been no justice for the Martin family, no justice for Jimmie Wade's twin daughters? House of Broken Dreams: The Jennifer Kesse Story

***Fox News Investigates explores a new true crime story each season***

She had everything going for her: A good job, close friends, a loving family, a boyfriend and a brand new condo. Her family describes her as a strong, fun-loving, career-minded, and responsible young woman. So why did Jennifer Kesse seemingly vanish without a trace?

On the morning of Tuesday, January 24, 2006, Jennifer Kesse failed to show up for work at Central Florida Investments, where she was a finance manager. Jennifer was known for her reliability, but on that winter morning 14 years ago, nobody heard from Jen. And that meant something was terribly wrong.

In this podcast, hosted by crime reporter Cristina Corbin, she travels to Florida to uncover new leads, conduct exclusive interviews, and examine evidence in recently unsealed police records.

Years later, the Jennifer Kesse case is anything but cold. In fact, the investigation, by some accounts, is only just beginning.

Murder in House Two

The shocking, riveting inside story of one of the biggest cover-ups in US military history. You thought you knew about the Iraq War? Everything you knew is about to change. Forever.

Written and narrated by filmmaker Michael Epstein, Murder in House Two is about what really happened in the Haditha Massacre of November 2005, when 24 unarmed Iraqi civilians – including women and young children – were shot multiple times by a group of US Marines. But it’s about much more, too: about one man’s fight for justice, about how the US government tried to prevent the truth ever getting out, about paranoia and persistence and an unshakeable belief in what is wrong and what is right.

For the Defense with David Oscar Markus

David Oscar Markus, a Miami trial attorney who has been called “a reincarnation of the old school criminal defense lawyer” and has represented clients from the head of the Cali Cartel to Fortune 500 companies and their CEOs, has partnered with rakontur, the lauded storytellers behind Cocaine Cowboys, The U and 537 Votes, to launch a new podcast series called For the Defense. The podcast focuses on the work of the least-respected but perhaps the most important profession in America: the criminal defense attorney. In each episode, Markus will interview a top criminal defense lawyer about one of their most gripping trials. Sadly, the criminal defense trial lawyer is a dying breed. The Feds have manipulated the system -- which was founded on the idea of trial by jury -- to force almost everyone (occasionally including the innocent) into pleading guilty to avoid trial. If you dare to go to trial, you risk going to prison for decades longer than had you surrendered and pleaded guilty. The system has shifted from valuing and encouraging trials to punishing those who dare exercise their constitutional right to have a jury decide their guilt. In the 1980s, over 20% of cases went to trial -- now less than 3% do so. Having tried cases all over the United States, Markus is well-positioned to speak to other leading criminal defense lawyers in the country and explore with them the decision they made in a high-profile case to proceed to trial, including their trial strategy, the risks involved, and the clients themselves. In the premiere episode, available now on all podcast platforms including Apple, Spotify and Google, Markus discusses the Harvey Weinstein case with his lawyer Donna Rotunno and what it was like for her to represent the most hated man in America against an entire movement. New episodes will be available on Tuesdays. Among the highlights of Season One: How did Roy Black flip the prosecution witnesses in his favor during the trial of a police officer charged with killing a black man during an altercation in an arcade? Why did Tom Messereau initially want to call Michael Jackson to the stand but ultimately decide against it? What was going through Marty Weinberg’s head when his client, a lawyer, decided he wanted to give part of the closing argument? How did H.T. Smith deal with a judge who was wearing handcuffs as his tie-tack? How did F. Lee Bailey, just a year out of law school, land the most followed trial of the day, Sam Sheppard (the defendant who ended up being the inspiration for The Fugitive)? Fight Night

On October 26, 1970, Muhammad Ali triumphantly returned to the world of boxing in Atlanta, Georgia. But every national front-page headline the next morning featured the story of one of the biggest heists in history. At the center of it all - a hustler named “Chicken Man”. Fans arrived in Rolls Royces delivered from New York City. Adorned in vibrant fur coats and dripping with diamonds, they grabbed engraved invitations then strutted into the arena. The sold-out crowd stood and cheered when the first-round bell rang, minus two empty seats. After the fight, many celebrating the victory, including top black mafia leaders, headed to Chicken Man’s house with invitation in hand. Instead of women and wine greeting them at the front door, each walked into the barrel of a sawed-off shotgun. On FIGHT NIGHT, J.D. Hudson, one of the first black detectives in Atlanta’s desegregated police force helped lead Muhammed Ali into the ring. The next day, he was assigned to the robbery by the chief of police. When asked by a journalist years later, “When did the investigation end?” J.D. summed it up perfectly, “When everybody was dead.” Read More
