Red Pen: A Grammar Podcast

Welcome to the weird, wild, scintillatingly stylish, and syntactically sound world of RED PEN—the grammar podcast that won't put you to sleep.Brought to you by the Columbia Journalism Review and hosted by old buds Ryan Davis and Mike Laws, RED PEN plucks examples from the news (as well as from novels, music, movies—wherever!) to answer all those questions you were too afraid to ask in English class.Digressions may include: Green Day's early work, the oppressive atmosphere of latter-day Batman movies, and, of course, cats. Lots of cats. Read More

The Q-Dropped Podcast

Stories of Families Ripped Apart by Qanon. When the covid-19 vaccines began to roll out in Canada, my brother and I made a concerning discovery: my parents had bought into the Qanon conspiracies. What ensued was two months of arguing in email, just trying to get them to get vaccinated. They are both in their 70s, and our father has had some medical issues that caused concern when the pandemic began. It was crucial to get them vaccinated. In an unexpected turn of events, after months of arguing, they finally agreed. I went with them, and I witnessed them both get vaccinated. They insisted that they finally realized the conspiracy theories had duped them, and all seemed to be well again. But, at the beginning of 2022, my brother noticed that our parents had drained several of their investment and banking accounts. When he confronted them, it became clear: they were deeper into Q than ever before. We don't know where the money is or the full extent of the conspiracy theories they have accepted, but we do know one thing: the people who raised us are gone. In their place are two strangers and a lot of hurt. I have decided to funnel this sadness and anger into a project to raise awareness about what Qanon is doing to families and relationships. Qanon is everywhere. In every country. They could be your family, your friends, your neighbours. They could be your lawyers, your doctors, or your police officers. They can even be your elected representatives. But what no one is talking about is how they are destroying relationships. They are Qanon, and these are the stories of the people who love them. Conversations with Peter Boghossian

We stand transparent about our motivations: we are champions of liberal values and Enlightenment Rationalism. Reason & liberty are paramount-whether threatened by tyranny in places like China or elsewhere-because they are essential to human dignity and prosperity. The Enlightenment, with it's emphasis on error-correction, is the philosophical project that has cultivated the wealth & freedom of the modern world. The West has been a custodian of this tradition of criticism, producing societies full rapid, stable, and genuine progress. The clearer people become on this connection, the more they'll recognize that these principles are what enable our civilization to be freer, safer, and more prosperous. This is the set of ideas we are committed to spreading.~ Reid Nicewonder Read More

Let’s Get Into It – Hosted by Sloan

Secrecy in the entertainment industry is dangerous and it’s time to reveal what is really happening behind the scenes. Why is there so much evil in Hollywood? Who is protecting these monsters? How are victims being silenced? Well, The Let’s Get Into It Podcast series answers those questions and exposes some of the darkest stories in entertainment. It is time to create a safe space for these entertainers and influencers to share their devastating experiences that you won’t believe.  Your host, investigative journalist, Sloan Hooks, is known for uncovering the truth on YouTube about some of your favorite stars such as Eugenia Cooney, Perez Hilton, HRH Collection, and Nickelodeon star Alexa Nikolas. The guests are survivors, outcasts, and people who are fed up with how they’ve been portrayed in the media and online. Sloan gives them the opportunity to open up about their instances of exploitation and moments of abuse at the expense of others. Reporting the truth has made Sloan the target of social media challenges, now he’s challenging his guests in-person, they don’t get to hide behind their false narratives any longer.  In each episode of the podcast, Sloan is creating an honest, open, yet safe space for these entertainers to finally be able to share their traumatic experiences in the industry in a raw and unfiltered way. Sloan isn’t afraid to ask the hard hitting questions everyone has been wanting to know, face to face. Perez Hilton is confronted about his history of hate and Alexa Nikolas shares her traumatic experience with producer Dan Schneider. Controversy, exploitation, abuse, pain, humiliation, my guests have been through it all, some which are very public and some which you’ll hear about for the first time. Sloan has done his research and is ready to confront these people head on. So, let’s get into it. Read More
