EMPTY BRASS

The gun community doesn't have many podcasts to call their own, host CJ Boxrud aims to bring the firearms community their own podcast. The gun world is ruled by Instagram, and the 60 second limits, Empty Brass is for new shooters to be able to tune in, and listen to explanations from instructors on a variety of topics. Or experienced shooters to hear from other folks in the community on a long form. The 2A community is full of veterans, law enforcement, and civilians who have faced adversity and seen dark times, Empty Brass seeks to discover what helped guests crawl out of a dark place, and succeed. No two episodes are the same, but each will contain information to help guide listeners to credible shooters, regardless of the discipline. Read More

Christian Nonprofit CFO

Financial leaders in ministries are often ill-equipped to address, let alone overcome, the many challenges they face. Too often they pivot from crisis to crisis, running on a tactical treadmill instead of proactively contributing strategic value to their nonprofits. Unfortunately, the full impact of their ministries suffer. It is time for this to change. Now. Paul says in Ephesians 4:12 that God gave leaders “for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.” God wants to equip us so that we might significantly impact others. This is what this podcast is designed to do. While there are many firms with their corresponding podcasts that provide technical insight on audit, tax, and legal matters, there are few that provide insight on how to lead on a day-to-day basis to reach your nonprofit’s goals. This is what we are going to accomplish at Christian Nonprofit CFO. Come join me on this journey! Explore with me how we can best serve at our m Read More

Is there Really Truth and Justice for All?

How often is an innocent person found guilty of a crime they did not commit? If you had asked me this question in 2005, I would have said, not many, only because I was uneducated. Now after specializing as a Criminal Defense Investigator for the past decade my response is a complete 360. Not because the accused are my clients, but because I am now more educated and have firsthand knowledge and experience with freeing the innocent after being wrongly accused. There are many wrongful arrests and convictions in the United States. How can we fix this? Understanding that our current judicial system is not “truth and Justice for All” and that everyone needs to be aware, this widespread problem in our country does not discriminate against race, religion, sex, nationality. Anyone can become a victim to the judicial system and incompetent investigations by law enforcement. Read More

White Lies

On the morning of August 21, 1991, a group of Cuban detainees took over a federal prison in Talladega, Alabama, and demanded their freedom. But how did they get here? And what became of them after? In season two of NPR's Pulitzer-finalist show, we unspool a decades-long story about immigration, indefinite detention, and a secret list. It's a story about a betrayal at the heart of our country's ideals. And in charting a course to our current moment of crisis at the border, we expose the lies that bind us together.
