The Lawless Files

SEASON 1: On Nov. 8, 1992, Angela "Mischelle" Lawless was murdered on the exit ramp of the interstate near her home in rural Missouri. Less than two years later, an 18-year-old man named Josh Kezer was convicted of the crime. Kezer was exonerated in 2009. This podcast examines the investigation of the murder, and whether law enforcement intentionally convicted an innocent man while protecting the state's star witness from suspicion. This podcast is hosted by a veteran journalist and is based on original reporting, interviews and thousands of pages of records.

SEASON 2: The focus of this season is primarily the focus of mothers and how they're fighting for justice in the deaths of their sons and daughters. Episodes focus on suspicious deaths law enforcement seem to have given up on. We also examine stories of law enforcement officers involved in abuse of power circumstances.

Don’t Talk to the Police – Reconstructionist Radio (Audiobook)

“Of the hundreds of jailed men I have known,” writes Brent, “- some guilty, many others innocent of the charge against them – over half would have never been convicted without their own words having been used against them.” This booklet discusses the reasons for the right to keep silent, that is, why the Fifth Amendment was added to our Constitution to protect this right. Though always a right needful for freedom, never has its use been more needful for freedom than now. Read More

Local Matters Podcast

Local and state governments, though often overshadowed by federal government, have tremendous impact on our quality of life. This podcast provides a valuable service by educating people on how to improve their own quality of life through civic engagement. Various organizations encourage residents to register and vote, but it does not appear that anyone is showing voters how to make good decisions when they do. It feels akin to hiring someone for a job without reviewing the job description. Local Matters changes that narrative by educating voters with short, clear, and unbiased civics lessons from a career local government professional, public speaker, and management consultant.
