Interview With A COYOTE Oct 22, 2024

In this interesting and laughable interview, our coyote friend shares so many interesting facts about how the fear mongering around coyotes came to be and what the actual facts are.

Once she explains all of this, it makes so much sense! Now when I hear coyotes yipping in the distance, I know they are celebrating seeing one another at the end of a difficult day, checking census to see how many are among them (and if their litter size needs to shrink or raise) and are possibly even doing that goofy butt run our old friend Rover does around the house.

Remember, with every neighbor in nature that we get to know just a bit better, the more our community expands and deeper our sense of belonging becomes. See another friend in the wild with just a little mind shift and bit of knowledge.

In this episode, we’ll be singing the praises of our old friend the crow. This misunderstood songbird is quite possibly the most intelligent creature in North America and is more than willing to become friends with you. In fact, you could even become a Legend Among Crows and we’re here to tell you how.

We’ll be playing a game where Joel will be testing Leah’s crow knowledge while shedding some light on these iridescent black beauties.

Is a crow smarter than our 3 year old son, Woods? Do crows mate for life and live in large, close knit families? Do crows hold murder investigations? In this episode I, Leah, am bringing herbalism home with the focus on the common garden companion, Thyme. Join me as I talk not only about this plant’s medicinal properties, but also how to actually incorporate this into your life.

When do you work with thyme? How do you work with it? Where do you plant thyme so it can help your garden?

I’ll also break down a cough for you. All coughs are not created equally and each type of cough needs a different herb for best results. Specifically, I talk about 3 basic coughs, the dry, wet and irritated cough. Thyme is a wonderful teacher in this lesson.

I’ll then dig into Thyme in the garden and who it likes to be planted by and who thrives because it is near. If anyone out there is tired of picking off those big ol’ tomato hornworms, you may want to give this a listen.

This episode is then rounded out with herbal medicine making tips and a recipe to make sure that you have what you need to bring this amazing natural neighbor, Thyme, into your home with confidence and excitement. Hello and welcome to the Sipping Teas and Hugging Trees Podcast where we, Joel and Leah Larabell of High Garden tea will be having lighthearted conversations about different neighbors in nature and how we can welcome them into our daily lives.

This episode is a quick introduction to what we hope to bring you with this podcast as well as a little bit about each of us.

Leah, an herbalist, teacher, ecotherapist and natural lover, and Joel, the woodsman, tea connoisseur, natural craftsman and tree enthusiast.

We hope to meet anyone where they are and take a walk together in our shared home. Each piece of our natural world that we better understand, the more we can bring the outdoors into our home and feel at home when outdoors.
