Harmony McCoy is a former Army Officer, turned outdoor enthusiast, mountaineer and nature lover. After active duty, she moved to Colorado and became obsessed with the outdoors and surrounded herself with like-minded people adventurous people. She was later introduced to “Veterans Expeditions” or VetEx; this incredible organization helps veterans overcome challenges associated with military service, through outdoor leadership and community. Harmony was then specially selected to attempt to climb Mt. Denali in Alaska. At just over 20,000 feet, it’s the highest mountain in North America.
On this episode, we focus on her entire story of getting to Denali, climbing it and coming back down. From the preparation hikes, workouts and climbs she did months in advance, flying to base camp, climbing up and then back down, it was really an awesome opportunity to learn all about Denali 101.
You’ll hear from Harmony directly as she talks about her experiences, favorite memories and lessons learned with climbing a mountain that some say, is harder than climbing Mount Everest…
