From the ashes of BlackBerry, the Galaxy Z Flip rises... Feb 06, 2020

BlackBerry and TCL call it quits, throwing the future of the keyboard-toting smartphones into uncertainty. I reminisce about the BlackBerry KEYone, the KEY2, and ponder how the company that championed physical keyboards was a precursor to all of the throwback designs that we're going crazy over these days. Speaking of which, I do drop a few thoughts on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip that will supposedly be announced at the upcoming Unpacked event. However, I would be remiss if I didn't talk about the Galaxy S20 line and all of the leaks that have come out.

A story about Kobe Bryant... Jan 30, 2020

There's not too much for me to say in this podcast episode that hasn't already been said by so many people in the media. But it's been a rather rough week and as a Los Angeles native and a person that loves this city, I gave it a little time before hitting record and just talking through how I've been feeling. The sudden and tragic death of Kobe Bryant has shocked many people, myself included, and I just hope that in sharing a lighthearted story about what kind of impact the Black Mamba had in my life can give someone still feeling the grief a little respite.

Talking Snapdragon 865 from a BOOKSTORE capsule in TOKYO Dec 27, 2019

OPPO now has its own big conference and show with Innovation Day 2019 -- and they brought me out to come and see all of the new announcements. After the first day of the show, I sit down with David Imel (Android Authority) to talk about one of the show-stealing items, the AR GLASS augmented reality headset. It's basically Hololens, but who's really counting?

Isa Rodriguez (Isa does tech) then joins me to talk about her favorite part of any phone -- the front facing camera. Well, on a prototype phone at the Innovation Day Exhibition Floor, we couldn't easily find it. That's right, they brought their Under-Screen Camera to show off a notch-killing solution that we can't wait to see come to market.

Allow me to show my love to all of you for being here on my journey, no matter when you might have been part of the story. From my beginnings at Android Authority to my current solo career and collaborations with Pocketnow, whatever success I might have now is never just my doing. Android Authority reunion?! (David Imel, Tayo Onabule, Darcy Lacouvee) May 01, 2019

This is an interesting one - I wanted to test out Skype/OBS for recording video podcast episodes for the YouTube channel but it turned into a reunion of sorts for me and some of the old Android Authority crew! David Imel returns to the podcast but while staying in Vancouver he joined the call with star editor Tayo Onabule and founder Darcy Lacouvee in the room! The four of us catch up, recount our respective Easter weekends, and then get into discussions regarding the Huawei P30 Pro, the Galaxy Fold, and foldables in general. It's a spirited discussion that is like a flashback to the old days.

I'm back to bring you an episode on the final day of 2018! This year has been awesome for so many reasons, but one of them has been my long distance relationship with this episode's guest, Isa Rodriguez. After episodes about our long distance relationship and how we generally meet up during work trips, we come to you on location from our AirBnB in Paris, France. As we said at some point during the trip (and perhaps in this very podcast), we never quite thought we would find ourselves in a place like Paris when we first got together #blessed

We talk about our four day tour of Paris the night we are meant to leave, which is part of the reason why we are so tired on this episode haha. And also, the Mona Lisa is actually not as exciting as it seems. The Louvre is dope, though.

Recovering from Techtober! (David Imel) Nov 07, 2018

In the wake of Techtober and ALL THE PHONES, I finally get back on the podcast with my co-host David! After some proper tea talk we get into every product and every trip that took up our entire last month. You can check out all of our coverage from our respective channels, but on this podcast we talk about some of the extra phones that either of us didn't get to spend time with: the newly resurrected Palm, the RED Hydrogen One, and the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3, in particular. It's any wonder how we got through all of the travel and all of the craziness, only to finally find ourselves back in a room together with the opportunity to chill with a couple cups of our favorite drink.
