Scott Van Pelt and Stanford Steve Coughlin give their reactions to Week 8 of the college football season. It was a thriller in Austin as Texas held on to defeat Ole Miss, giving yet another SEC team two losses. Texas Tech is no longer unbeaten as Cincinnati pulled off the big upset in historic Nippert. To cloud the Big 12 waters even more, BYU fell at UCF to leave the conference with one unbeaten remaining: Utah. Speaking of un-beatens, there aren't many. Miami dominated Pitt to remain perfect and UCLA cruised against Sparty. Shoutout Wisconsin for a major home win over USC, as the Luke Fickell doubters are quiet but the Lincoln Riley doubters are as loud as ever. What to make of the USC coaching situation and if the guys are feeling a change could be coming. A change was made at NC State after Stanford won on Friday, and Minnesota pulled off the upset over Iowa casting serious doubt on any chance the Hawkeyes had at making the dance.

Tennessee suffered a loss in one of the biggest results of the day, as South Carolina pulled it off thanks to several Tennessee penalties and mistakes, especially late. Tennessee is one of seven 2-loss SEC teams, including LSU who dominated Auburn. Both Tennessee and LSU have a bye before facing Kentucky and Alabama, respectively, on a loaded slate on November 7. Plus, full reaction from Indiana's win over Michigan, Alabama-Texas A&M, Vanderbilt-Kentucky, live reaction of Utah-Houston, Virginia Tech-Clemson, Oklahoma State-Colorado, Arizona-Iowa State, Northwestern-Rutgers, Cal-SMU, Boise State-Washington State, Oregon-Illinois and more.

Scott Van Pelt and Stanford Steve recap a WILD day of college football including some of the most surprising results to date. The guys start with BYU knocking off Notre Dame in Provo, with Steve offering his thoughts after seeing the game in person. SVP explains how Bear Bachmeier proved him wrong and what BYU did well in the massive win. Miami hung on against Florida State in a game that saw some questionable officiating in the end, but Miami won and the Canes will likely be the new No. 1 team in the country on Sunday.

The most shocking result was Auburn taking down No. 1 Georgia in Athens. How did that happen? The guys break down Byrum Brown's performance, Gunner Stockton and more from the stunner in Georgia. Tennessee DOMINATED Alabama in Knoxville, as the defense and run game is legit. The guys discuss Alabama's skid and Tennessee's potential down the stretch, as well as ANOTHER Texas loss and what to make of the Longhorns, Ole Miss' dominant win, UCLA's low-scoring victory, Kentucky's road win at Oklahoma and more.

Ohio State beat Indiana but SVP was impressed with BOTH teams, as the Hoosiers will be fine. Finally, a word on the Big 12's depth, the ACC pecking order, Michigan benching Bryce Underwood, Northwestern's thrilling win, Steve Young on College GameDay and more.

Scott Van Pelt and Stanford Steve are here to share their biggest takeaways from NFL Week 4. Starting in New Orleans, SVP and Steve share their experiences in the Big Easy honoring the Saints’ infamous punt block 20 years ago on MNF after Hurricane Katrina. SVP discusses how special the Domecoming scene was before the game and what it meant to talk with Steve Gleason, Trombone Shorty and others. The guys then get into the Falcons’ dominant win over the Saints, sharing takeaways from Michael Penix and Bijan Robinson’s performances. Three teams are 4-0, which one is the best? Why Stanford Steve thinks it’s NONE of them, and that the Jaguars have the rightful claim to the league’s best team through a month of ball. The Carolina Panthers are on the rise and Steve is waving the Bryce Young MVP flag. Too soon? Or is he finally emerging as a top-tier QB in the league. Penalties are at an all-time high across the league, leaving SVP frustrated and befuddled, and also nostalgic on what particular ref’s holding call gesture. Additionally, the guys talk the MLB playoffs, Georgia-Alabama, Tom Kim’s amazing win, the 0-4 Texans, how football used to be played in ANY type of weather and of course, Pooptown. | SVPod

Scott Van Pelt and Stanford Steve recap the CFB Week 5 slate, discussing Alabama's dominant win over Mississippi State, Ohio State's win over Iowa, Missouri's drubbing of Florida and more. Plus, Steve gives a full recap from his experience in Iowa City, specifically the powerful interactions experienced in the Children's Hospital.

How GOOD is Keelon Russell and Alabama? Ohio State threw it to 4, which continues to be a good gameplan, as the Buckeys flexed their muscle and showed why they should still be considered one of the most dangerous teams in the nation. Missouri crushed Florida by 28 points for one of the biggest shockers of the day, as Austin Simmons is beginning to look like the quarterback many thought he would be. Minnesota got it done at home over Michigan for the first time in nearly 50 years, as the Gophers continue to prove why they're not an easy out. Kentucky remains a pesky team and picked up another huge win in Will Stein's first year as the Cats got it done on the road over South Carolina, pulling off the biggest comeback in UK history. Notre Dame avoided an upset in rainy Chapel Hill, Indiana and Georgia rolled, Nebraska put Maryland away in the 4th after the Terps had a big chance to build a dominant lead earlier in the ball game and USC found a way over Washington.

All that and more, including thoughts on Northwestern-Penn State, Texas Tech-Colorado, BYU-TCU, Tennessee-Auburn, Baylor, NC State, Wake Forest, Pitt-Virginia Tech and Houston-UCF. And last but certainly not least - what a performance from Yale's Dante Reno.

    Show notes

Scott Van Pelt and Stanford Steve Coughlin react to the LOADED college football Week 4 slate. The guys begin with Crops' MASSIVE win at Michigan that has clear College GameDay implications. How Iowa pulled off the walk-off win as Hank Brown tossed the game-winning score. Then onto Knoxville where Texas got it done in a place that is difficult to do so. SVP also adds his thoughts on Colin Simmons' controversial and penalized celebration. LSU and Georgia picked up blowout SEC wins but Oklahoma and Texas A&M... yikes. Florida delivered in The Swamp taking down fourth-ranked Ole Miss in a game that showed what the Jon Sumrall Gators are all about. And how about Wisconsin! The Badgers went into Happy Valley and pulled off the upset that the Badger program desperately needed. Oregon went on the road and defeated USC by two touchdowns in an emotional one that saw Dante Moore get knocked out of the game by Desman Stephens II, who celebrated after the fact. SVP and Steve share their thoughts on Stephens' antics...

Plus, Jake Dickert and Wake Forest proved Steve right with a big upset win at Louisville, Super Kamario Taylor kept his great season going as Mississippi State takes down Missouri, Alabama dominated South Carolina behind Keelon Russell, Jeremiah Smith and Ohio State breezed past Illinois, Boise State and Cincinnati got good wins, Oklahoma State flexed its muscle late at West Virginia en route to a big win and Notre Dame and Miami continued to roll.

Finally, SVP shares his thoughts on Maryland's 51-point loss to UCLA and Steve gave a full rundown of the Knoxville experience and how the College GameDay crew beautifully navigated and incredibly difficult day.
