Often, an album is an album. But sometimes an album is a movie. Every song like a scene. When you add them up, there’s a story with a beginning, middle, and end.
Projects like this can be infinitely exciting—but also difficult. With a movie, it’s a series of physical actions that make logical sense. That’s easy to follow. With an album, you have to actively listen to every word and piece together poetic verse, emotion, metaphor, simple images, and music into a whole that’s greater than the sum of its parts. That’s not so easy.
But that’s why I'm here to help. My name’s Chris Lambert, and I explain art. On August 1, the Colossus network will release "Igor: Tyler’s Gothic Romance", where I'll delve into Tyler the Creator's latest album, IGOR. I'll explain the key components to understanding the album's narrative. From there, you can delve into the album with a fresh perspective and new insight about the story Tyler the Creator was trying to tell.
We hope you join us for this Colossus microseries—providing the insight you want, at a fraction of the time.
