"Sunglasses Kid is a British pop and synthwave music producer, freelance composer, performer and DJ based in London, England.

His music takes you out of the daily grind and into a world of pure nostalgia with a mix of vocal-driven upbeat pop and romantic electronic instrumentals, influenced by the music, movies, and fashion of the late 80s and early 90s.

His debut album Graduation was released in 2017 and features artists including Miranda Carey, Rhyme Time, I Am Harlequin, Myrone, Phaserland and more. Sunglasses Kid has worked with Richard X (Sugar Babes, Liberty X) producing the hit track Beyond Memory for synthwave artist, Nina, and has collaborated with artists including Ollie Wride, D/A/D, Highway Superstar, Dana Jean Phoenix, Nina and Kristine.

Sunglasses Kid's signature sound makes him in demand as a remixer, and he has reworked tracks for synthwave artists Ollie Wride, Diamond Field, Step Rockets, Futurecop! the Backlit Infinite, Phantom Ride and others.

As a composer, his music can be heard on Made In Chelsea, and commercials for Tens sunglasses and Friday The 13th The Game.

Streaming from the mysterious void between the past and the present:

This is SURGE! I'm a solo musician based in Sweden. My main project is SURGE, which is a tribute to the pop culture of my childhood; the stuff I grew up with. As a child of the 80s, I'm trying to capture the thrills of those epic sci-fi cartoons, the pulse of your average Amiga side scroller, the magical vibe of the pop music of the era and wrap it all up in bite-sized chunks for easy digestion. Thank you so much for taking an interest in what I do!

People! Do you like video games? Do you like playing video games? Let's face it, half the people on here are gamers, and understandably so, because video games have come a long way since the pong games of the 80's, and have demonstrated that their storytelling capabilities are now on par with that of movies, and more.

What are some of your #favoriteStarWarsVideoGames? is it #StarWarsSquadrons? Or Perhaps #JediFallenOrder? What about the classic #Battlefront and Battlefront2 games. Could it be throwback such as #TheBattleForNaboo, #ObiWanTheGame or #TheCloneWarsVideoGame? Well, whatever it is you better believe we take a #DeepDive into it in today's episode!

A.J Chiarella of Shakeout | The Live Looping Pop-Punk Band! - Episode 58 Jan 21, 2021

Show notes

#ShakeoutNY #TwitchRockBand #LiveLoopingPopPunk

Hey guys and welcome back to another episode of "Talkin' With Andrew & Chris". This week we sit down with 1/2 of Yonker's very own Live-Looping Pop Punk Band, A.J Chiarella of Shakeout NY!Shakeout came together by two best friends from Yonkers, NY that wanted to try something different.

Unlike a traditional band biography that will tell you all of the great things the band has accomplished, we’re here to use this place to tell our story. Feeling a click when encountering live music for the first time is magical; it’s what drives us to pursue the dream of creating full-time with a fiery passion. Finding other people with the same mindset is a must. Through this band and our music, we aim to share our journey while building a community that encourages others to do the same. After dabbling in multiple aspects of the music and art world, we have learned the value of sharing experiences to connect with our audience and hope to inspire a positive outlook on the potential of their creativity.

We are definitely a visual band. We thrive on the novelty of two musicians creating the same sonic energy of five people. We do this by utilizing live looping to demonstrate that less can be more with the right mindset. It’s all about chemistry between the people (or in our case person) that you’re playing with and always playing music that feels genuine and authentic.

At the end of the day, we’re just two dudes named A.J. doing something we love because we want to. We hope you’ll do the same. Create cool shit, do cool shit. If you’re here, welcome to the Shakeout Squad. You’re great.
